Job Description

Introduction

 The Ethiopian Public Health Association (EPHA) was established in 1989, and registered as a local non-governmental and non-profit professional society that brings together health workers throughout Ethiopia for professional exchange, collaboration and action with a vision and mission to promote, high professional standards and better health for all Ethiopians through advocacy, networking, capacity building and active involvement of its members.

To realize its vision, building the capacity of staff and its members is one of the strategies to ensuring dynamism, effectiveness, and efficiency in discharging EPHA’s responsibilities and implementing its strategic plan.

In its implementation, EPHA needs to provide gender and social inclusion focused orientation and trainings on a regular basis along with taking deliberate measures to increase women’s roles and engagement. In addition, it needs to embed Safeguarding in its work operations and programme activities by responding appropriately to any safeguarding concerns about children and adults within communities where we work.

EPHA also needs to install a knowledge management database system, strengthen the MEL team, and facilitate the regular analysis and dissemination of data to improve MEL standards for efficient internal and external learning.

Accordingly, EPHA through the support of Packard Foundation would like to commission a consultant to undertake staff awareness training on Gender & Inclusion, Safe Guarding and Knowledge Management in the month of December 2021 for a period of half day in each topic.

Scope of the work

The Trainer shall undertake the following:

  • Review EPHA documents and organize the training tailored to the staff at various positions
  • Provide a half day awareness creation training on Gender & Inclusion, Safe Guarding and Knowledge Management with excellent facilitation skill; using adult learning and participatory approaches.
  • Document the staff’s reflection and discussion;
  • Share training materials with participants for future reference; 
  • Write proceedings /report for financial settlement and documentation. 

 Deliverables

  • Detailed schedule, and plans with required materials (Training note and or training manual) for the training;
  • Training material (Power Point slides
  • Training proceeding/report for financial settlement and documentation. 

 Roles and responsibilities:

Responsibilities of the Consultant:

  • The Consultant/s is expected to come up with a detailed schedule and proposal regarding the overall training and methods to be used; 
  • Provide training materials for participants;
  • Write a proceeding report.

 Responsibilities of the Ethiopian Public Health Association (EPHA)

  • Provide all the necessary information about EPHA for preparation of the training;
  • Organize the training, print training materials and support the consultant during the training;
  • Provide feedback on the training facilitation and create good learning environment with participants;
  • Facilitate payments for the consultant as per to EPHA standards;
  • Professional fee 3500 birr per day for each training
  • Town taxi transport Birr 200 per day for three days 
  • Government tax deducted based on the TIN

Job Requirements

 Required qualification and experience

The trainer required to have:

  • Extensive experience in providing training on Gender & Inclusion, Safe Guarding and Knowledge Management
  • A professional/s with Master's degree or above in Management, Development, Social Anthropology, Social Work, Sociology, Communication, Psychology and have project implementation experience on the above areas.
  • Proven experience in conducting similar training in Ethiopia particularly for non-governmental organization employees
  • Good facilitation skill and able to accommodate different view of participants, understanding and experience
