We are pleased to announce the vacancy for  Subject Matter Expert - Education within Operations and Planning department in Enterprise Division. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below.

Role purpose

Reporting to HOD – Operations and Planning, the role holder responsibilities will be to set the directions for the organizations content strategy in respect of Education: defining the overall strategy, designing and developing insightful content led value propositions, crafting the strategy to drive content acquisition and content adoption through strategic partnerships, leveraging paid and own media. The position holder will work closely and interface with key functions with in EBU, CBU, Regulatory team, Customer Operations and Technology to ensure content strategy is implemented in alignment with overall business strategy, market needs and requirements. Become familiar with ‘in-house’ developed solutions such as Vodacom’s CONNECTU, Safaricom Eneza and Vodafone’s Connected Education. The role represents the business stakeholders and acts as the voice of the customer ensuring all internal teams deliver the right and relevant products for the customer.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop the Education Strategy
  • Perform needs analysis at prospective customers and market segments as well as employ business analytics insights to identify opportunities and create winning content propositions that deliver to the product portfolio objectives of revenue, retention, innovation and Net Promoter Score (NPS)
  • Design and develop a sustainable business models to attract the rights partners to deliver the content
  • Engagement and onboard relevant partners (Digital Education Content Providers)
  • Develop and own the assigned content innovation funnel and new products introduction roadmap
  • Together with the Terminal team design and develop a device strategy to enable students acquire devices economically. How can we leverage off government relations to reduce customs costs for devices?
  • Work closely with other stakeholders to define a clear and precise Go to Market strategy and channel engagement including visibility requirements
  • Initiate and coordinate the launch of new products and services with the marketing team and ensure successful go-to-market and market activation of products and services
  • Engage with external stakeholders in the content industry i.e MoE, MiNT, HoSHE etc
  • Ensure that performance targets are set for the each of partners and have monthly reviews meetings to ensure delivery of performance KPIs
  • Provide insights on customers taking up the products by age, region, segment, and use there to drive uptake
  • Develop journeys that cater for both customer on 2G and data enabled devices

Job Requirements

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical or Commercial discipline from a recognized university
  • Experience of 5 years and above in a high result-oriented organization with at least two in commercial setting driving growth through products and innovation or product brand management
  • Understanding of GSM and related Telecom Technologies and Platforms (Vodacom CONNECTU)
  • Flexible with planning and work estimation, managing and empowering related teams, able to continuously balance between the customer and commercial needs
  • Experience in use of analytics to drive data driven decision making
  • Excellent Problem-solving skills with the ability to minimize overhead tasks with the team and manager interdependence with other teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills coupled with good listening and critical reasoning skills
  • Team Player with excellent influential skills and high level of initiative and self-drive with the ability to foster an inclusive culture
  • Strong leadership & management abilities to inspire and coach employees to accomplish strategic goals and related tasks
