Ohio State Global One Health, LLC (Ohio State GOH, LLC) is an affiliate entity of The Ohio State University working extensively on a range of One Health-related projects targeting laboratory, surveillance, and healthcare (both human and animal) workforce capacity strengthening through applied education, training, and research throughout Ethiopia. Our organization would like to invite interested professionals to apply for the following vacant positions for the implementation of the project.  

Key responsibilities

• The Data encoder will be responsible for data entry, management, analysis, and reporting to improve detection and containment of AMR and IPC activities.
• Work with the project coordinator and Hospital laboratory personnel, IPC officer, in developing better data handling approach, recording, organizing and reporting of IPC and AMR related activities in the Hospital
• Review and understand document before entering data into the system and consult data officer if any incomplete or inconsistent data exist
• Entering AMR data from paper to a computer data entry system 
• Maintaining the data system and ensuring all information is correctly recorded such as comparing entered data with source documents , or re-enters/clean the data if an error is detected
• Review data sources, follow the standard operating procedures, generate accurate routine reports as per the project requirements
• Ensure a system of quality data transaction between hospital and EPHI
• Secure information by completing database backups
• Maintain confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential
• Execute other responsibilities as required 

Place of work: to be seconded at Zewditu Memorial Hospital and at Tikur Anbsessa Teaching Hospital Addis Ababa

Number required: Two

Employment type: Full time one-year contract with a possibility of renewal up on availability of funds and successful performance up on evaluation.

Job Requirements

Required Qualification and work experience :

• BSc Degree in Statistics, Computer science, Information technology or related fields
• Minimum of 2 years experience in data entry and related activities
• Skills and experience in Excel and at least one statistical software (SPSS, STATA, SAS and R) is needed
• Additional qualifications in computer science or IT
• Experience in health research 

Key working relationships: Receives technical support from the hospital lab head and the AMR project lead at the GOHi regional office.

Adjunct skills Required for all positions

• Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent facilitation skills, and strong understanding of how to safely and accurately collect feedback from key stakeholders
• Ability to handle multiple tasks; proven self-initiative and problem solving abilities and proven track record of quality performance in highly pressured environments
• Computer skills, including Word, Excel, Power-Point, and Access
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision making capabilities based on use of data
