Ohio State Global One Health, LLC (Ohio State GOH, LLC) is an affiliate entity of The Ohio State University working extensively on a range of One Health-related projects targeting laboratory, surveillance, and healthcare (both human and animal) workforce capacity strengthening through applied education, training, and research throughout Ethiopia. Our organization would like to invite interested professionals to apply for the following vacant positions for the implementation of the project.  

Key responsibilities

• Work with EPHI and hospital AMR team on data process that suits the activities of the project
• The Data officer will be responsible for AMR data collection, management, analysis, and reporting to improve health systems and to better detect and respond to outbreaks.
• Lead all data related activities of the project including data collection methods and tools, data cleaning, data quality and reporting at national level
• Generate key indicators; generate accurate routine reports as per project requirements
• Perform and generate analysis results as per analysis plans
• Upload and update system on the server and tablets, and perform the checks on every section of the program;
• Ensure a system of quality data transaction between Hospitals and central servers/cloud storages
• Directly supervise team of data encoders and assistants at hospitals
• Work closely with developers in managing data collection platforms
• Work with local and international statisticians and epidemiologists;
• Ensure data quality across AMR hospital networks (eg data checks, audit)
• Execute other responsibilities as required 

Place of work: to be seconded at the Ethiopian Public Health Institute(EPHI), Addis Ababa

Number required: One

Employment type: Full time one-year contract with a possibility of renewal up on availability of funds and successful performance up on evaluation.

Job Requirements

Required Qualification and work Experience

• BSc Degree in Statistics, Computer science, Information technology, Epidemiology and Bioinformatics
• Minimum 5 years experience in Data Management & Data Quality Assurance
• Skills and experience in Excel and at least one statistical software (SPSS, STATA, SAS and R) is needed
• Additional qualifications in computer science or IT is a plus
• Experience in health research is a plus

Key working relationships: Receives technical support from EPHI AMR team lead and the AMR project lead at the GOHi regional office.

Adjunct skills Required for all positions

• Excellent facilitation skills, and strong understanding of how to safely and accurately collect feedback from key stakeholders
• Ability to handle multiple tasks; proven self-initiative and problem solving abilities and proven track record of quality performance in highly pressured environments
• Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
• Computer skills, including Word, Excel, Power-Point, and Access
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision making capabilities based on use of data
