Job Description
Project Background
The Improving Market-led Production of selected Agricultural Commodities in Targeted woredas of Amhara and Tigray regions (IMPACT project) is a three-year consortium project funded by AGRA. The overall goal of the project is to contribute to improvement of income and food security of smallholder farmers and their families in selected woredas of Amhara and Tigray Regions of Ethiopia. The project is designed to increase productivity and strengthen access to output markets of wheat, teff and maize in the targeted woredas. It aspires to increase structured market-oriented production of target commodities value chains in 20 woredas across the two regions.
Sasakawa Africa Association (SAA), TechnoServe (TNS), and Farm Radio International (FRI) are the main implementers and members of the IMPACT project consortium, with SAA serving as the lead organization. Each of these partners play distinct role in the project’s implementation working closely with Bureaus of Agriculture and other partners. SAA leads the grassroots efforts and assists SHFs by introducing productivity-enhancing agricultural technologies and practices to increase yields and improve household incomes. TNS focuses specifically on linking the smallholder farmers to structured output market such as food processing industries and institutional market channels. FRI design and broadcast radio programs that support the ground extension efforts by SAA and TNS.
As the project has been running since October 2018 and will end in February 2022, there is a need to systematically document and share significant achievements, best practices, success stories and lessons for potential project/program scaling up to larger audiences.
