 JOB TITLE: Deputy Regional Director.

 Duty Station: Bahir Dar (1)

REQUIRED NUMBER: 1

Job Summary

Under the supervision of Regional Director of Amhara RO, the deputy regional director plan, coordinate and supervise the implementation of all the regional office activities at sites. She/He also plan, coordinate and engages the support team at all levels to provide support to the implementation sites in Amhara. S/He will assist in ensuring ongoing program monitoring, and development and submission of periodic reports and PIPs weekly and monthly to his supervisor.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the RD in planning, capacity building, implementation support and monitoring of RHB support team at all level on: ICT/KPFS/SNS/Targeted PITC/HIV-ST, early ART initiation/Adherence support/Retention/Intensive VL monitoring.
  • Lead training need assessment and organize training in collaboration with regional team.
  • Ensure availability of SOP/GL/PST/M & E tools at RHB/ZHO/HFs related to intensified case detection, HIV positives tracking, early ART initiation, adherence counselling and intensive VL monitoring.
  • Supervise the team on day-to-day basis to ensure all teams execute given duty regularly and continuously to prioritized sites.
  • Participate in regional health bureau steering committee or technical working group meeting as needed, identify challenges, and develop action items for implementation.
  • Support RHB in building capacity for HIV program ownership & continuous quality improvement (CQI) for sustained achievements of UNAIDS 95-95-95 goals
  • Organize and conduct weekly PRM, develop PIP to address gaps.
  • Identify/document best practice and share to RPSD.

Job Requirements

Required qualification and experience

  • Physician or HO with MPH and minimum of 4 years’ experience involved in comprehensive HIV prevention, care and treatment of HIV/AIDS program.
  • Experience in HIV program technical coordination
  • Experience in teaching, mentoring, organizing and conducting training.
  • Excellent interpersonal and coordination skills
  • Experience in development of national documents related to HIV/AIDS Programs
  • Ability to establish and maintain excellent work relationship with strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English
