Ethiopian Construction Design and Supervision Works Corporation (ECDSWCo.) is transforming and diversifying from the current consultancy business operations. Taking advantage of the existing ECDSWCo.’s strength and maximizing on the newly emerging external opportunities that are being prevalent with the shifts in Ethiopian Economic Policy – the Corporation is aiming to play a significant role to the success of the Ethiopian Construction Industry -by creating a vibrant business institution that will not only fill the gap that is in the current construction industry, but also replace the need for having international construction companies that are dominating the government mega scale projects.

To this, the Corporation is emerging as an Engineering and Investment Group. The proposed name of the Group is ‘’Ethiopian Engineering and Investment Group (EEIG)’’. The Group will comprise of three main operational business units i.e., Consultancy, Construction and Investment.

 EEIG-Construction business unit key activities are high-end complex construction projects, predominately high-rise commercial and residential buildings, real-estate; infrastructure (roads, railways and airports) & water and energy sector construction. EEIG-Construction alone would grow into a conglomerate of several business units including Piling, underground and foundation Works, Fit-Out, Energy (Solar Solutions), Electro- Mechanical Solution, Facility Management, Landscape and Construction Materials Production.

 Position Overview/Scope of role:

The Quantity Surveyor is required to provide cost and material estimates, draw up projected budgets, and work alongside a team, noting any design changes and their effect on cost. Quantity surveyors often liaise with site team, design team, engineers, Consultants, other contractors and clients. They involve in agreement of variations, claims and any additional payments.

Top Roles and Responsibilities: 

• Ensure robust, accurate and timely cost and value reporting at both project and business unit level
• Follow up for accurate cash flow reporting takes place
• Update the monthly cost and commercial plans and have accountability, along with the project team for the commercial performance and strategy
• Ensure that good client relationships are fostered and liaising with site managers, clients, contractors, and subcontractors.
• Prepare Payment applications
• Site works cost reporting
• Keep track of construction materials and inventory
• Analyze costs for maintenance and additional building needs
• Preparing and analyzing costings for tenders
• Preparing reports, analyses, contracts, budgets, risk assessment, and other documents.
• Preparing bills of quantities 
• Documenting any changes in design and updating budgets.
• Ensure end to end contract administration and followup 
• Traveling from the office to various sites or basing for longer time frame on site projects as required

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience Required:

• BSc Degree in Civil Engineering or related fields,
• 4+ years of Experience in Quantity Surveying and/ related position in an infrastructural/highway setting is an added advantage
• Candidates with an international experience Or have worked for international companies here in Ethiopia will be given priority.

Critical criteria/Skill to be successful in this role:

• Ability to demonstrate a good knowledge of monthly reporting
• Good communication skill and Excellent team player
• Having Integrity, being trustworthy and honesty are key for the role
• Knowledge and understanding of analyzed petty cash books
• Ability to write up transactions accurately and to total and balance books accurately
• Good computer literacy skills, especially MS Excel
• Excellent relationship building skills
• Willing to be based at site locations anywhere in Ethiopia
