Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The purpose of the Motor cycle Driver position is to ensure all documents and items dispatches, deliveries & collections are timely expedited, in terms of CARE office work culture and fleet management. In addition, ensures that the motorcycle has properly maintained. He/She should ensure smooth running of the motorcycle and a duty to report any service requirements or technical failures. She/he also reports accidents immediately to the supervisor. 

II. RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

 Job Responsibility #1: Provide Delivery Service:

  • Deliver documents, transfer letter to banks
  • Deliver documents to signatories
  • Deliver documents to Government offices like ACSO, transport authority, etc
  • Deliver documents to CARE partner organization like USAID, World Vision, Total Ethiopia, etc.
  • Distribute RFQ for vendors
  • Deliver Purchase order for Vendors
  • % of Time: 40%

Job Responsibility #2: Provide Collection Service:

  • Collect documents from Banks
  • Collect signed documents from CARE signatories
  • Collect documents from government offices like ACSO, Transport Authority, etc.
  • Collect documents from CARE Partners organizations like USAID, World Vision, Total Ethiopia, etc.
  • Collect invoices from Garage
  • Collect invoices from Total Ethiopia
  • Collet Quotations from vendors
  •  % of Time: 40%

Job Responsibility #2: Motorcycle Care and Safety:

  • Takes responsibility for the safety of the motorcycle assigned tools, helmet, mailbox, and accessories.
  • To maintain the motorcycle in immaculate condition
  • Ensures that the Motorcycle is always kept clean and usable.
  • Checks oil, fuel, water, tires, brakes and other electrical systems before starting to drive the motorcycle.
  • Follows up maintenance need of the Motorcycle and promptly reports back to immediate supervisor.
  • Makes sure that he/she drives with in the speed limits set by CARE and according to traffic regulations.
  • Makes sure to wear CARE Vest whenever dive the Motorcycle.
  • Ensures validity of his/her driving license.
  • % of Time: 10%    

Job Responsibility #4: Reporting:

  • Reports accidents timely to his/her supervisor. 
  • Maintains the daily motorcycle log by legibly recording in English at all trip times, mileage, and destinations.
  • Updating monthly mileage records and submit to his /her supervisor.
  •  % of Time: 5%

Job Responsibility #5: Perform other duties as assigned:

  •  % of Time: 5%

The level of problem solving this position will face is level number one. What has to be done and how to do it are routine and clearly defined.

Job Requirements

A) EDUCATION/TRAINING

Required:

  • Completion of 10th Grade and 3rd grade driving license.

Desired:

  • Completion of 12th Grade and 3rd grade driving license.

 B) EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • 3 – 5 years experience in passengers driving.

Desired:

  • Defensive Driving and auto mechanic background.

C) Technical Skills

Required:

  • Good spoken English.
  • Trustworthy and reliable.
  • Valid driving license and good driving record.
  • Physical fitness and willingness to work under pressure, possible long working hours, and frequent field travel.
  • Basic mechanical skill to be able to do small repairs if necessary.
  • Firm belief in teamwork, gender equality and sensitivity to HIV/AIDS.

 Desired:

  • Skill in Off-road driving skills.

 D) COMPETENCIES

V. CONTACTS/KEY RELATIONS

The Driver will have working relation with Fleet Administrator and Driver in order to provide driving services and maintain the health of the vehicle.
