Job Description

Job Purpose; 

Build and develop new partnerships, income and expand the pool of supporters (individual influencers, groups, trusts, foundations, corporates etc.) using different fundraising products. Strengthen customer relation management and develop and operationalize digital products to institutionalize and sustain local funding raising streams through CRM systems and various marketing technology tools. The jobholder will be accountable for increasing World Vision Ethiopia’s income by achieving high-quality and sustainable local fund raising.

Major Responsibilities:

Technology development planning

·        Work on the development of a national marketing plan as a part of the overall Marketing strategy.

·        Research and identify potential new funders through World Vision partners mapping process.

·        Create marketing system and tools with creative service team and other product designing expertise.

·        Develop and coordinate new CRM system and workflow, work on digital-first applications and ensure that these are integrated into public platforms such as websites and social media, and internal platforms such as Finance systems.

·        Analysis and report the profit and loss analysis, tracking, and reporting of all local fundraising products outcomes to determine effectiveness for future projects.

·        Write grant proposals for local donors and develop event opportunities.

Operationalize marketing business

•              Organize different networking and relationship with supporters to build organization brand and reputation for sustainable and growing engagement.

•              Work within various organizations to secure funding and sponsorships.

•              Utilize or operationalize proactively new local fundraising products, such as; child sponsorship, community sponsorship, major donor offerings, fragile or emergency offerings, event products, corporate products developed and refined to continuously engage and gain support from local private individuals and corporations.

•   Build key relationships with external local partners, freelancers and suppliers to operationalize marketing business.

•     Organize fund raising events using standard channels and tools to maximize the supporter engagement and fund raising to world Vision Ethiopia.

Engage with full responsibility for various fundraising efforts including product sales, obtaining items for sale in auctions and acquiring donations.

Marketing operation integration

•  Ensure the Integrated marketing operation business with Communications Coordinators in Field, Technical Programmes, Grants, and Emergencies (HEA) receive on-going support, capacity building, instruction and guidance from the Marketing Operations Unit.

Develop and implement an engagement plan for World Vision Ethiopia staff to influence internal culture and behavior change, ensuring that a customer service culture is being developed across all teams in the country

•  Promote the National Resource Development initiative to maximize the engagement of all teams.

•  Works with Public Engagement Unit to promote fundraising events using flyers, advertisements and digital marketing outreach. 

Job Requirements

  • 6 years’ marketing team, in international humanitarian and development sector, not-for-profit or charity sector, social enterprise or for-purpose business sector, or other creative and social industries.
  • Demonstrated experience managing external partner relationships, such as with banks, corporations, or digital agencies.
  •  Advanced technical skills in several of the major areas of the job, such as; marketing operations, product development, CRM, fundraising technology application development.
  • Proven experience of training and capacity building of others.
  • Advanced level of computer proficiency, Mac and PC.

Experience working with children and youth.

  • MA or Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Media, Journalism, Arts or similar.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • CRM knowledge, practice and skill.
  • Thorough knowledge of the marketing, communication, and media industry.
  • Thorough knowledge of international development, World Vision development practice, and marketing and communication needs. 

Professional certifications in any of the technical areas of marketing or business development.

Travel and or work environment requirement;

Working primarily in the head office in Addis Ababa, 30% local travel will be required.

Physical Requirements: Travel by road, flexibility with accommodation and dietary arrangements. Ability to partake in on-location production or live events.

Language Requirements: Fluency: Amharic is required

Working knowledge: professional English language required Other local languages are beneficial

Duty Station; Addis Ababa

Duration of the contract: for an indefinite contract period
