Internal/External Vacancy Announcement
The Center for Victims of Torture works toward a future in which torture ceases to exist and its victims have hope for a new life. We are an international nonprofit dedicated to heal survivors of torture and war trauma. We provide direct care for those who have been tortured, train partners around the world who can prevent and treat torture and war trauma, research and advocate for human rights and end the practice of torture. We are headquartered in Minnesota, USA with offices in Africa and the Middle East.
Objective:
This position aims to further the sustainability goals of CVT-Ethiopia through 1) extensive external capacity building through the development and delivery of training programs with strategic partners and 2) building internal capacity of CVT interdisciplinary clinical staff to provide such trainings. The goal of the trainings will be to build the partners’ capacity to work with torture and war survivors. The Training Manager will work closely with Supervisors/Trainers from the three CVT disciplines (Counseling, Physiotherapy, and Social Work) to develop materials, organize and deliver these trainings. The Training Manager will build the internal capacity of CVT’s interdisciplinary clinical staff to deliver high quality professional trainings.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
General conditions
Duration: 1-year employment agreement
Report to: Physiotherapist/Trainer(s) and Psychotherapist/Trainer, Zonal Manager
Supervisees: No direct reports. Indirect coaching, mentoring and supervision role with clinical staff conducting trainings.
Location: Based in Shire with visits to other CVT operation sites within Tigray and possibly elsewhere in Ethiopia
Internal contacts: Clinical Programs Director, Supervisors/Trainers in all three disciplines (Counseling, Physiotherapy and Social Work) and M&E staff.
Terms of Employment: the contract is effective from February 2022 through January 2023 depending on funding availability.
