To strengthen our highly committed and passionate team in Ethiopia we are looking for Human Resource Manager based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia with some travel to partner organizations.
Overall Job Profile
As HR Manager you will provide operational and strategic support in all areas of Human Resources including recruitment, onboarding, compensation & benefits, employee relations, training & development, performance management, employment law and HR administration. You will build on and leverage existing HR processes and develop new ones for the Ethiopian office in line with global HR standards & procedures as well as local legal requirements. Specifically, you will be responsible for:
- HR Management System: Develop a strong HR system in the country office in accordance with existing organizational policies and procedures, including development of comprehensive HR database to the country office.
- Recruitment and hiring: Write and post a job ad, Review resumés, Pre-screen candidates, administer skills tests, interview applicants, and make hiring decision and an employment offer together with the senior management
- Induction and onboarding: Coordinate, develop and organize comprehensive induction of new employees and prepare them for integration with the organization and their responsibilities
- Staff development: Coordinate staff capacity building and identify, together with respective managers and thematic specialist, training opportunities (internal training, educational programs, conferences, etc.) to keep employees up to date in their respective fields and in accordance with Light for the World policy so as to align with country strategy and organizational development need;
- Keep track of employee performance:- establish a framework for employee’s performance management, train and facilitate the process.
- Manage benefits and compensation:- are responsible for managing employees’ benefits and compensation and creating a comprehensive benefits program for both voluntary and mandated benefits. Achieving the right balance between limiting operational costs and creating a stimulating work environment is the responsibility of the HR manager.
- Create safe working environment -The incumbent is also responsible to take care of the implementation of policies (safeguarding, anti-corruption, safety, and security, etc) and monitor their compliance, both internally and at partner level.
- Facilitate and improve internal communication, support organizational culture, and create grievance handling mechanisms.
- Responsible for overall compliance functions within the organization by working very closely with Light for the World senior management team and the Vienna office HR and compliance team.
- Contributes to the development of organizational frameworks, policies, and procedures in their area of responsibility

Job Requirements
Minimum required qualification, professional experiences, and person’s specifications
- BA degree in business administration, management, or relevant disciplines; applicants with MBA in related discipline is preferred.
- Relevant work experience on jobs listed above in an international organization setup is mandatory. Having a human resource management experience is required. At least 8 years of relevant work experience with proven track record is required.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of the relevant policies and legal framework about human resource is a perquisite.
- High level of professional integrity and commitment to Light for the World ’s mission and vision is required. You must have a good social attitude and ability to operate in a multifaceted cultural setting.
- Interest in development cooperation, on the inclusion of persons with disabilities is vital.
- Should possess an excellent speaking and writing English skill.
