Currently, Dereja is undertaking projects in tackling the issue of youth unemployment with various partners. Dereja is a pioneer in establishing Career Center services in Higher Education Institutions, organizing regional and national job fairs, designing and delivering employability skills training for fresh graduates as well as working on various additional interventions towards building the youth’s employability skills. Thus, IMS is looking for a Project Manager who will be responsible to lead the implementation of projects in Dereja.

Job Summary

The Project Manager will report to the Program Director and will be responsible for the design of different intervention programs, forming and maintaining partnerships, implementing projects, managing project budget, developing team capacity, and designing the learning framework of the Projects based on M&E results.

Project Management

  • Provide technical support to the project ranging from, program design, proposal, and budget development and detailed implementation planning
  • Manage and lead project-related strategic liaison with donors and partners.
  • Monitor and review project performance data and program management arrangements monthly
  • Identify and set action points and risk mitigation plans with key project partners and the rest of the Dereja team and Program Director to ensure a high level of performance ·
  • Provide a review of identified key risks, triggers, and contingency plans related to the project and verify and support the team to ensure risks are being effectively managed·
  •  Ensure the effective planning and implementation of activities that cut across the project, including assessments, studies, capacity building initiatives, setting up and running of centralized data management, evidence and knowledge management, and dissemination activities ·
  • Work with the MEAL Team, and other technical specialists such as knowledge management, innovation, finance, and communications to establish effective monitoring systems that are in place properly monitor program activities, budget allocations, and financial expenditure are all on track.
  • Review work plans, procurement approaches, and key project elements, including through a value for money lens, contributing to effective programming and accountability to the donor
  •  Maintain a detailed understanding of budget lines, and the impact of the budget forecasting
  • Ensure all project partners (Universities, training partners, trainers, etc..) staff understand the requirements and quality standards for implementation;
  •  Monitor project progress against both programmatic and budgetary targets, making adjustments to project implementation as necessary in consultation with the donor and Program Director.
  •  Prepare timely and high-quality project and donor reports on project activities

Budget Management:

  • Prepare and compile annual plans, budgets, quarterly and annual reports
  • Ensure that financial planning and reports are in line with the project agreement and requirements from donors and government as needed
  • Ensure effective and efficient utilization of program budget and other resources for the intended purpose;
  • Make a periodic program and budget revisions as required in consultation with donors

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Quality Assurance:

  • In coordination with the MEAL officer, design results-based monitoring and evaluation process for the program.
  • Regularly follow-up and monitor projects to ensure proper and efficient implementation.
  • Plan and facilitate regularly scheduled reviews of projects with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and facilitate assessments and evaluation exercises on regular basis. 
  • Manage knowledge & experiences and replicate good practices.
  • Ensure the proper utilization and use of monitoring and evaluation system
  • Prepare and compile quarterly annual and other interim reports for the program based on donors and stakeholders’ requirements.
  • Ensure the development and application of common standards, tools, and practices for project planning, implementation, monitoring, learning, and reporting across the projects

Stakeholder Management

  • Work closely with government stakeholders, donors, private and public sector employers throughout the project implementation
  • Ensure that partnerships are maintained and functioning
  • Maintain regular communication and interaction with stakeholders to facilitate and promote learning and information sharing.
  •  Provide technical support to stakeholders in the course of project implementation.

Documentation and Learning

  • Ensure proper documentation of experiences and lessons (including pictures and video documentation) learned in the course of program implementation.
  • Organize and maintain database and information related to the program.
  • Take an active role, facilitate and participate in studies and reviews related to the program. 
  • Facilitate and ensure dissemination of information and study/reviews.
  • Provide information/inputs to be used for the program.

Team Leadership

  • Ensure all team members have clear direction on tasks and deliverables
  • provide guidance and support to the team and enhance performance
  • Foster collaboration, teamwork, and learning
  • Inspire team, nurture innovation and adapt flexibility

Job Requirements

Qualification

  • BA Degree preferably MA in Management, Public Administration or other related fields
  • Experience in writing successful proposals, reports, concept notes is mandatory
  • 5 years of experience in project management
  • 3 years experience in team management
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Proficient problem solving, detail-oriented, organization, and management skills
  • Excellent communications skill
  • Proficiency in English and Amharic languages
  • Hands-on experience in budgeting, and reporting to donors.
  • Ability to travel
  • Working experience in a non-governmental organization or developmental organization 
  • Good Knowledge of workforce development. 
  • Passionate about youth development
