We are pleased to announce the following vacancy for a Specialist: Governance, Risk and Control (GCR) within the Cyber Security Function in Ethiopia. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below.

Detailed Description

Reporting to the Senior Specialist: Cyber Security IT & GDPR, the role holder will manage the Technology Security Governance, Risk and Control needs across Safaricom Ethiopia. The role involves working with the cyber and technology teams in delivering cyber security and IT General Controls (ITGC) programs while focusing on delivering security technologies/ capabilities that would help protect against internal and external threats to ensure controls are effective and standardized.

The role involves providing security assurance, guidance and support to the cyber and technology teams as well as and high profile projects according to company defined policies and requirements, best practice and local/international standards (ISO27001, ITIL, COBIT 5, POPIA, etc.) relevant to the technology security area.

Job Responsibilities

This role will involve working with stakeholders in Safaricom Ethiopia and our Consortium partners to drive out Cyber Security requirements and baseline requirements. The role is responsible for guiding the efforts of the Cyber, Technology and Networks teams to ensure that Cyber Security foundational controls are embedded and operating effectively.

The role requires the following:

• Provide proactive support and guidance across the environment on managing the Technology Risks through robust controls while managing the Technology Principal risks;
• Perform Regular Reviews on technology processes, systems, infrastructures aiming to proactively enhance the company’s Security posture and maturity level through guidance of management on recommendations for closure of risks/findings;
• Provide insights into cyber security solutions to meet local requirements from a functionality, capability and cost perspective.
• Create, establish and maintain Cyber Security Policies Life-Cycle and Compliance;

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, post degree qualification
• Have one or more these industry Cybersecurity Certifications: CISM, CISA, CISSP, ISO2001 Lead Implementer
• Minimum of three (3) years relevant experience in information security/cyber security
• Proven experience in working across security frameworks and security technologies.
• In depth understanding of the role of Information Security in network and system security.
