Job Description

Handle legal matters and court proceedings. Handle civil and criminal cases. Represent the company before courts of law and any tribunals. Identify emerging trends associated with import export that may affect the Company. Participate in research works, participate in meetings and negotiations, & prepare periodic reports.

 Main duties and Responsibilities:

  • Handel legal matters such as prepare statements of claim, defense, other pleadings and memorandum of appeal and argue before courts and/or other tribunals to protect the company’s interest.
  • Represent the Company or ensure that the Company is appropriately represented in courts, any tribunals, police offices, public prosecutor and other government offices on legal issues related to the Company.
  • Analyzes the probable outcomes of cases based on legal precedents and determine the advisability of defending or prosecuting lawsuits;
  • Attend court cases, conduct litigation, and report progress on each adjournment.
  • Communicate progress attendances, results and court decisions to respective supervisor.
  • Review court judgments and/or any tribunal orders and advise employees and concerned departments to comply with the decision.
  • Recommend alternative way of case settlements for some disputes.
  • Follow up the implementation of courts and any tribunal orders.
  • Ensure that the records of courts adjournments, other documents related to litigation and all the necessary legal document or flies are available and neatly and systematically kept in the Department both in hard and soft copy.
  • Follow-up the proper institution and presentation of legal suits and/or statement of defense in all cases including judgment execution process and appeals.
  • Prepares and submit periodic progress reports on court cases status to supervisor immediately after return ;
  • Represents the Company in any government, public or private organs, courts of law, judicial tribunals, etc.
  • Prepare letter to public authorities.
  • Prepares and revise contracts and other legal documents.
  • Advise and follow up criminal cases.
  • Conduct research aiming at improving systems and mechanisms of the company’s operation from legal point of view.
  • Interpret and prepare legal brief on laws, circulars and memos on legal issues that could affect the activities of the concerned work unit of the company.
  • Participates in meetings and negotiations called by the Company or external organs;
  • Supervise crime cases handled by the police, prosecutor, court or other similar crime investigation offices or government organs;
  • Maintains current knowledge of alteration in legislation;
  • Conducts trainings on legal subjects to other process performs of the Company;
  • Participate in research works on different legal topics to upgrade legal consciousness to aid decision making;
  • Provide clarification/interpretations on legal language, laws, contracts and legal documents to Departments;
  • Maintains team work at all operational levels and up keep good working relations with internal and external customers of the Company;
  • Perform and deliver results within the given service delivery time set for each work process;
  • Report to his/him supervisor on current status of pending cases;
  • Follow up assigned advisory and litigation cases in court and other tribunals.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by his/her supervisor;

Job Requirements

  • LLB degree in Law with at least minimum of 0-2 years of Experience in practicing law.
