The School Feeding Program Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day implementation of Samaritan’s Purse School Feeding Program (SFP) in Habru Woreda/North Wollo.
This post will undertake supervision of field based school feeding supervisor; manage aspects of the field office; coordinate delivery of program goods; collect, analyze, and forward program information to area and country leadership; organize and implement trainings for school feeding committees and volunteers; resolve program-related issues; and liaise with PTAs(Parent Teachers Associations), teachers, and community mobilization and participation in SFP activities.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Program Management:
- Manage SFP program in the field office, draw project implementation plans, assess progress of activities implementation against plans on monthly basis, and document the progress and action corrective measures as and when required.
- Provide leadership and example to the SFP staffs under his/her control and ensure compliance with school feeding standard operating procedures, organizational guidelines and policies.
- Coordinate and work in harmony with Finance, Logistics, and other programme departments to ensure that all program objectives are achieved on time to budget and in an efficient manner
- Develop detailed project / program work plans along with budget and implementation strategies.
- To ensure all activities are undertaken in accordance with SP standard operation procedures, policies and guidelines.
- Conduct monitoring and supervision visits to the schools to ascertain program quality and compliance with set standards.
- Producing and compiling weekly, monthly, end of term and program final reports to inform program direction. Share relevant reports as a feedback mechanism to all relevant stakeholders.
- Liaise with schools, local government, local community leaders and other organizations to ensure the efficient implementation of the program.
- Assist the Monitoring & Evaluation and Compliance teams in undertaking M&E and teaching/training compliance activities as required.
- Assist in producing and compiling special Donor Reports and funding applications.
- Provide feedback on the lessons learned from the implementation of field activities and make recommendations for improvements as required.
Logistics & Supply Chain:
- Ensure that program resources given to members of School Feeding team are accounted for.
- Help in organizing logistics components to ensure program supplies are in adequate measures in schools at all times.
- Collect, verify and analyze information required for delivery of program goods. Ensuring that organization assets and equipment are taken care of and that staff are practicing due diligence when acting for SFP.
- Serve as point person to promote and implement Child Safeguarding Policy in field (Mandatory)
People Management:
- Contribute / suggest to the development of SP staffing structure in the field, based on programmatic, administrative and financial requirements of the SFP.
- Work closely with HR Officer and Area Coordinator to ensure staff positions are in place to deliver effective programs.
- Ensure the SFS has clear performance objectives, based on his/her job description and evaluate the staff's performances and provide feedback for his/her performance improvement and capacity building.
- Organize different forums and meetings to keep abreast of progress/plan at field level.
Financial and Administration:
- Develop activity expenditure plan and communicate the same to Area Coordinator.
- Assist in the development of annual program budget
- Manage School Feeding staff in liaison with HRO and appropriate support departments
- Ensure members of the program team are conversant with all policy requirements and that they are complying with the same.
- To conduct monitoring and supervision visits to the schools to ascertain program quality and compliance with set standards.
- Produce and compile weekly, monthly, end of term and program final report to inform program direction. Share relevant reports as a feedback mechanism to all relevant stakeholders.
- Advise leadership of issues arising which affect the proper operation of the program. Resolve issues based on advice provided.
- Liaise with schools, local government, local community leaders and other organizations to ensure the efficient implementation of the program.
- Assist the Monitoring & Evaluation and Compliance teams in undertaking M&E activities as required.
- Assist in producing and compiling special Donor Reports and funding applications.
- Provide feedback on the lessons learned from the implementation of field activities and make recommendations for improvements as required
Job Requirements
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Essential:
- BA degree in relevant field and at least 3 years of progressively working on similar programs with NGOs.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in Amharic and English.
Desirable:
- Willingness to learn and share information
- Ability to work under pressure and in a team.
- Good computer skills in MS packages (Computer Applications; word, excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Strong leadership skills including ability to be in control of delegated responsibilities.
- Interpersonal Communication Skills.
- Strong reporting skills and experience in developing donor reports.
- Working independently with limited supervision.
- Practical experience of program monitoring and evaluation.
- Proven ability to work to program and meet deadlines.
- Ability to evaluate and analyze large volumes of diverse data.
- Well-developed community mobilization skills.
- Good knowledge of financial management in the NGO sector.
- Computer literate in Microsoft packages especially Excel and Word.
- Energy and self-motivation.
