OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

Country Management Support Units (CSU) have been established in the organizational structure to provide support for Managers and staff to fully assume their responsibilities in the GSM environment and to ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, rules, and regulations on all administrative and financial matters and transactions in the context of an enterprise resource Planning (ERP) system.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

The incumbent will provide transportation support to the WHO Country Office staff, and will also support the management of the fleet of vehicles in the WHO Country Office in Ethiopia, through performing the following duties:

  1. 1. Prepares vehicle fleet and drivers' daily work and run schedules.
  2. 2. Receives and/or prepares dispatcher orders.
  3. 3. Manages the allocation and rotation of vehicles for the appropriate running of a fleet of vehicles.
  4. 4. Determines types or amounts of fuel, mileage, etc when preparing field trips.
  5. 5. Records and maintains files and records of client requests.
  6. 6. Monitor drivers and/or vehicles and utilization in order to coordinate services and schedules.
  7. 7. Help drivers maintain daily log-book and overtime sheets.
  8. 8. Manages and supervises the activities of the WHO Fleet of vehicles.
  9. 9. Liaise with Fleet Manager in resolving all matters relating to Drivers in a fair and expedient manner.
  10. 10. Help drivers complete their administrative duties.
  11. 11. Drives WHO vehicles when required
  12. 12. Performs other related duties as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential:

  • Completion of Secondary Education and a valid driver’s license of the country.

Desirable:

  • Diploma or post-secondary secondary education or training.

Experience

Essential:

  • At least three (3) years of fleet dispatch experience. At least two (2) years experience as a driver, and a safe driving record.

Desirable:

  • UN work experience would be an advantage.

Functional Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to read, write and understand instructions in the working language
  • Knowledge of driving rules and regulations of the country and skills in minor vehicle repairs
  • Ability to write concise and faithful reports of accidents

Use of Language Skills

Essential:

  • Good knowledge of English.

Desirable:

  • Excellent knowledge of Amharic

Other Skills (e.g. IT Skills)

  • Basic word processing or other software packages, and standard office equipment. Formal or self-training in the use of standard office software.
  • Work might require driving for long periods, lifting weights (e.g. pouch bags), some of which are over 25 kgs, and also driving subject to weather and traffic risks

REMUNERATION

Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 13,110.00 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
