Introduction
Population, Health and Environment Ethiopia Consortium (PHEEC) in partnership with HRNS, ECTA, JARC, ECFF and ICP has initiated an integrated and multi-sector project entitled “supporting sustainable coffee production and the conservation of forest ecosystems through climate –relevant and integrated landscape management of the Yayu Coffee Forest Biosphere Reserve” which is funded by European Union (EU DESIRA). The project is four years project that will run from September 2021 to August 2025. PHE-EC is looking for a highly qualified, experienced in managing integrated multi-sector projects implemented in a consortium modality, self-initiator, team player, responsible, accountable, ethical and high caliber person for the position of Field Level Project Field Level Project officer.
Job Summary
The Project officer will coordinate social interventions with environmental and economic activities and ensure sustainable livelihood improvements of targeted communities with due consideration of timelines in delivering results. He/she will also be responsible in ensuring appropriate tracking of project results towards complementing the achievement of the organization’s mission and vision through imparting new values and innovations into the PHEEC’s interventions.
Duties and Responsibility
- Responsible to closely work with woreda Health Offices, Health Extension Workers, primary Health care Units (PHCUs), kebele administrators and other development partners to establish and sustain a social and Behavioral Change Communication (SBCC) approach in selected intervention kebeles.
- Jointly work with kebele administration, health extension workers and locally influential people to select and establish village level PHE platforms including PHE village Committees, PHE School and PHE Youth Peer Educators
- Responsible to facilitate the integration of population, health and environmental issues into the different project components including livelihood, forest management and rangeland management
- Organize different SBCC events with the established platforms to generate demand for family planning in the intervention area
- Liaise with the respective government and other stakeholders of his/her respective woredas so as to smooth implementation of the project activities
- Organize and accurately completes multiple tasks by establishing priorities while taking into consideration special assignments, frequent interruptions, deadlines with available resources
- Closely work with the SHARE BER project consortium member organizations in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation
- Responsible to work closely and in Coordination with the other implementing partners and ensure efficient use of the project resources
- Provide close technical support to government and consortium member organization with regard to integration of PHE activities including the social issue like gender
- Provide technical support and play lead role in establishment and strengthening activities of multi-sector platforms
- Participate in a joint planning with the consortium member organization’s staff and government office
- Support the integration of the project activities into the government plan
- Capture and prepare case stories, best practices and lessons learned related to the PHE integration in the project intervention areas
- Prepare monthly and quarter report about the progresses of the project activities and events and report to PHEEC’s Yayu project field coordinator
- Make sure that activities are timely accomplished with quality and proper utilization of finance

DUTY STATION: Metu with field travel to project woredas in Yayu, Hurumu, Doreni, Alge-Sachi,Bilo Nopha and Chora

Minimum qualifications and experience
- University degree in Agricultural economics, social science, environmental science or equivalent
- Three years working experience with communities for development activities;
- Experience in working with government and non-government organizations
- Knowledge of English & Oromiffa is an asset
