Who we are

SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia is an International Non-governmental organization and a member of SOS Children’s Villages International Federation. The organization started its humanitarian work with the opening of its first Village in Mekelle, Northern part of Ethiopia in 1974. The organization has been providing life-saving provisions such as food, water and health services for a very significant number of children devastated by severe drought and the subsequent famine.

Today, we have grown significantly to meet the persistent challenges that confront Ethiopian children who have lost parental care and are at risk of losing their parental care. Working in close collaboration with international donors, local government and community based organizations across seven program locations; SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia aspires that every child grows up with love, respect and security.

Your role....

While working with us a Brand and Digital Media Officer you will

Report to:  Advocacy and Communications Manager

In charge of the following;

  • Support in the implementation of brand and communications strategies, tactics, and messages to achieve maximum measurable impact on SOSCVE’s profile, programs, and campaigns. 
  • Ensure the development of high-quality content and dissemination of internal and external monthly newsletters.
  • Develop high-level content and design graphics for communications products such as brochures, roll-ups, banners, infographics PowerPoints, fact sheets and other relevant materials.
  • Working with relevant SOS CVE team and or co-workers to produce articles, features and news for publication in the print media and organization’s documentary.
  • Maintain on-going brand integrity via consistent application of the brand guidelines.
  • Develop and implement Social Media Strategy aligned with the SOS CVE’s Communications Strategy, imparting key unique selling points with audience-specific, tailored content. 
  • Manage and update SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia’s website, social media platforms, internal communication channels, and other outlets 
  • Support the Advocacy and Communication Manager in identifying target audiences and create strategies to effectively engage them.
  • Draft media announcements, releases and advisories and ensuring standard is maintained across locations.
  • Assist the Advocacy and Communications manager in positioning SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia as a strong partner among potential and existing supporters based on SOS Children`s Villages roots, vision, mission and values.
  • Ensure an alignment of the status quo of external communication of the public perception of the organization in the country and in alignment with the management strategy and the fundraising strategy, implementation and evaluation

The must haves:

Education 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relation, Marketing, Journalism Communications, or any related field.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience 
  • Experience in working with Microsoft Office, Photoshop, video editing, and social media and digital marketing 

Additional Requirements and required competencies

  • Good communication skills – must be able to explain the SOS brand concept to others in a convincing and inspiring way.
  • Well-developed facilitation and presentation skill.
  • Computer Proficiency and preferably trained on graphic design.
  • Strategic and analytical thinking: dealing with diverse demands and pressure from different sections of the organization to often tight deadlines.
  • Fluency in Amharic and English languages.
