Import Officer

Our client in the heavy machinery import industry is looking for an active and proactive import officer that is willing to transform its services to the next level. If you are well experienced with import, have what it takes to tackle new challenges in a new environment then this job is for you. 

The import officer applies compliance and import knowledge to offer support and guidance on all import-related commercial operations activities. Import officer manage data for shipments and provide support for many steps of the transportation process. Will work with customs agents, warehouse staff, shipping companies, and suppliers.

Your key responsibilities will be:  

• Act as a point of contact between the company and suppliers.
• Plan and carry out import activities for the organization.
• Manage, document, control, check or assist with issuing of all import documents.
• Provide professional, efficient, and timeous communications to the organization with regard to tariffs, incoterms, duties, restrictions, and permits.
• Manage the import processes in a cost-effective way with specific Emphasis on imports 
• Assist procurement and Bank Relationship team with financial duties regarding import processes in an effective and responsible way as well as the daily running processes.
• Manage import responsibilities according to set deadlines
• Ensure compliance with the policies and procedures
• Maintain a high degree of professional and ethical relationships with supervisors and suppliers as well as different entities
• Accurate and timeous reporting of relevant management information to Import.
• Effective negotiation of duties and terms for imports.
• Knowledge of freights, custom duties, tariffs, and permits.

Requirements 

• Strong computer skills and knowhow with MS Word, MS Excel, Adobe
• Excellent technical reading and writing skills in English language
• Self–initiative & ability to manage own work with little supervision.
• Good interpersonal relationship, negotiation skills, data Organizational & Analytical skills.

Qualification and Experience

• Education Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Mechanical Engineering, Logistics, Business Administration, Management or other related fields
•  1+ years of relevant work experience on import
