Islamic Relief Ethiopia (IRE) is operational in the Somali Regional State with a base office in Jigjiga, Hargelle, Elkere, Bare, GG and Dekasuftu, Afar Regional State; Ewa, Awra and Gulina; Oromia regional State, West Harergeye, Chiro and Meayso Woredas and an additional operational office in Addis Ababa. Job Purpose

Seasonal projects officer is a key member of the Islamic Relief Ethiopia program department at Addis Ababa. S/he is responsible to manage, coordinate planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of IRE seasonal projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be fully aware of the policy and guideline of seasonal projects and actively participate in the development and review of country strategy and thematic programme plans.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the seasonal project component of the Islamic Relief Ethiopia programme.
  • Identify and analyze community priorities on issues related to seasonal projects and share with relevant managers.
  • Develop and design high quality project proposals with a capacity of attracting funds for both Ramadan, Qurbani and other seasonal projects for donors.
  • Monitor and provide timely, relevant, accurate input on overall technical aspects of IRE's Seasonal projects work in Ethiopia. The position will require to travel 20-30% of the time to IRE's field locations to conduct market assessments, to look into community demands, proper implementation, and case study/story development.
  • Ensure the development of an M&E framework (DIP, PMP, action plans, etc) and key indicators for seasonal projects that help each project improve quality of reporting, clearly articulate progress and impact of projects.
  • Actively participate in key relevant internal meetings such as Programme Review Meetings, lesson learnt workshops, ARMs, bid analysis, etc.
  • Collaborate with internal program departments to ensure all deadlines are met and project planning and implementation is on schedule.
  • Maintain proactive communication with IRW, Donors and various departments of IRE for the successful planning, implementation, media materials preparation and reporting of seasonal projects.
  • Oversee project items’ timely procurement and tracking on a regular basis.
  • Recruit, train and deploy volunteer, staffs and partners for successful implementation of seasonal projects.
  • Responsible for ensuring the Seasonal Project’s donor media requirements are met, quality media materials including videos, photographs and case studies/stories are collected and shared.
  • Responsible for all Seasonal Project’s relevant documents and audiovisual materials are properly collected, organized from the field and archived in accordance to the IRE records management policy.
  • Proactively and regularly contribute media materials regarding the seasonal programs as input to Islamic Relief’s social media and digital platforms. 

Job Requirements

Required Qualification and Competencies

  • University degree in social science/ or any other relevant field of study + 3 years’ experience in similar projects.
  • Strong communication skills, with comfortability in-person, via phone and email. Interacting with stakeholders in a warm, responsive, and helpful manner.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to prioritize and plan work activities, use time efficiently, follow instructions, and responds to management direction.
  • Desire to collaborate with other team members and cross-departmentally.
  • Easily and quickly build rapport and trust. Foster good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, beneficiaries, and partners.
  • Understand social nuances, practices, and world views of people of various backgrounds, identities, and cultures.
  • Availability to occasionally work mornings or evenings and on weekend when demanded
  • Demonstrated ability in proposal and report writing skills
  • Proven skill in photography, videography, graphics design, branding and case studies/stories writing
  • Good written and spoken English and Amharic is essential
  • Proficiency in other local languages is advantageous
  • Deep understanding of the nature of seasonal programs
  • Sympathy with the aims and objectives of Islamic Relief
  • Commitment to humanitarian principles and action.
