Position: Driver I

About the Organization:

VisionFund Micro Finance Institution (S.C) is an Institution established according to proclamation No. 40/96 to provide financial services to the productive poor in the rural and urban areas of Ethiopia. VisionFund is currently operating in four of the Regional States of the country.

VisionFund MFI is currently looking for candidates for Driver I role. The successful candidates will have skills and experience that meet the following requirements:

1.   JOB SUMMARY

The Driver I is responsible for providing driving services to authorized passengers and materials. She/he takes care of the passengers, the property in his/her custody and ensures that the vehicle is insured and properly maintained. He/she also reports accidents immediately to the supervisor and the relevant authority. 

2.   SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Checks the vehicle at the start of each working day for the general condition of the vehicle, checks coolants (oil & water), fuel level, tyre condition, etc and drives the vehicle with maximum safety and care, and according to traffic regulations;
• Makes routine services such as washing, cleaning and greasing, reports any defective parts or malfunctions, keeps and submits reports on fuel consumption, mileage, car use, etc. using a log book or other form provided for the purpose;
• Meets and assists visitors/staff on arrival and departure as required;
• Assists in the distribution of mails to and from the post office and other organizations;
• Reports accidents to supervisor promptly and complies with traffic regulations and insurance policy;
• Ensures validity of his/her driving license;
• Takes responsibility for the safety of the vehicle assigned, tools and accessories;
• Ensures that the vehicle is kept clean and usable at all times;
• Follows up maintenance need of the vehicle and promptly reports back to immediate supervisor;
•  Makes sure that he/she drives with in the speed limits as per traffic regulations;
• Makes sure to wear seat belt and always asks and make sure that his/her passengers wear seat belt;
• Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor. 

Job Requirements

A) EDUCATION/TRAINING

• 10th grade complete and 3rd grade driving license

B) EXPERIENCE:

• 2 years of relevant experience

C) TECHNICAL AND OTHER SKILLS

• Physical fitness and willingness to work under pressure, possible long working hours and frequent field travel;
• Basic knowledge of auto mechanic to be able to do small repairs if necessary;
• Ability to interact and work effectively with others at all levels.
• Ability to conduct security checks and inspection on vehicles.
• Ability to keep vehicle log book.
• Interpersonal skill.
• Frequent Travel
