Background:

The Digital Health Activity (DHA) is a five-year project that supports Ethiopia in improving the quality and availability of healthcare services through the deployment of data-driven and patient-centered digital tools. DHA is helping build sustainable, resilient, and interoperable health information systems (HIS) that ensure the entire health sector has the data, analytics, and skills necessary to improve the health and well-being of all Ethiopians. DHA is doing this through three objectives: Digitization, Data Use and Governance and Capacity Building.

Objective of the Assignment

DHA is working on adapting, customizing and scaling up the EMR system in the country. So far 5 health facilities in Addis have implemented the EMR system. As part of this initiative, DHA is working on advancing the EMR system by integrating important HISs in the eHealth architecture; the Electronic Auditable Pharmaceutical Transaction Service (eAPTS) and District Health Information Software (DHIS2) to improve service provision, data quality and more. The objective of this assignment is to ensure the EMR system is integrated with these HISs appropriately based on the requirements set and also engage in the interoperability development activity.

Expected Key Deliverables

• Work on interoperability between the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Auditable Pharmaceutical Transaction Service (eAPTS) through Open HIM interoperability mediator.
• Work on interoperability between Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and DHIS2 through Open HIM interoperability mediator.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Hands on experience on interoperability and integration of different systems
• Knowledge on FHIR, Open HIM and other accepted interoperability standards
• Hands on experience on different software development related to health information system

Duration of Engagement

The period of engagement for this assignment is 2 months with possibility of extension based on quality of work and timely delivering tasks.
