Job summery
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
The Housekeeper maintains the cleanliness of the Chief of Mission Residence, including but not limited to:
- Cleans house floors and walls by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them,
- Cleans windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees, dusts furniture, walls, machines, and equipment,
- Replenishes supplies,
- Launder and iron clothing,
- Run household errands as needed,
- Event service to include set up, serving and clean up; assist chef as needed,
- Assist at the Deputy Chief of Mission’s Residence and African Union Chief of Mission’s Residence by serving and cleaning up as needed,
- Gathers and empties trash regularly,
- Cleans and polishes furniture and fixtures; washes windows, walls, ceilings, and woodwork, waxing and polishing as necessary,
- Reports maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions as necessary,
- Develops and maintains positive working relationships with others,
- Perform other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Required Education: Completion of elementary school
- Required Experience: At least 3 years of progressively responsible work experience as a housekeeper in any embassy or diplomatic mission, foreign nationals’ residences, or hotels/restaurant is required
- Language Requirement: Limited knowledge of English and Good Knowledge of Amharic language skill is required
- Skills and Abilities: Ability to operate washing machines/dryers, vacuum cleaner, ironing and must have good interpersonal skill
WORK HOURS: Full-time (40 hours/week)
