Position within the Organization

The Junior Police Advisor is a member of a small but growing Ethiopia team. The Junior Police Advisor reports to the Country Representative and will be working on Interpeace’s project on ‘Building trust between communities and the police through a problem-solving approach in Addis Ababa’. The project is a collaborative work with the Ministry of Peace.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provides technical and context related support for the successful project implementation
  • Facilitates meetings, provide logistical support, and organizes events in the four Woredas of Addis Ababa the project is being implemented
  • Provides support to the senior advisers of the project and GIS technical team
  • Works closely with the Police University and the Ministry of Peace as part of the implementation of the project
  • Maintains an acute awareness of political and social dynamics in the Ethiopia context

Qualifications:

  • Candidates with relevant qualifications, experience, a tertiary degree, and fluent in English and Amharic.
  • Previous work experience on police in general and community police, in particular, is highly desirable

Education:

  • Tertiary degree in policing, international relations, political science, development, management, or related field

Experience

  • Five years of relevant experience in the security sector in Ethiopia in general and community policing in particular
  • Professional experience in academia
  • Excellent knowledge of NGOs work in Ethiopia, particularly those working on peacebuilding
  • Excellent interpersonal communication

Scope

The assignment is for a total of 90 working days until December 2022.
