Country Pharmacist – Addis Ababa Coordination Job Vacancy at MÉDECINS DU MONDE -FRANCE

Job Description:

Médecins du Monde (MDM) is an International Non-Governmental Organization (INGO) involved in humanitarian interventions, operating in Ethiopia since 1986 in different types of health projects from long-term interventions to emergency response. Medecins du monde is present since over 30 years in Ethiopia and is currently working on project related to gender base violence, maternity, SRH and support to Regional Health Buros in Oromia Region, and Afar Region.

MAIN OBJECTIVES OF THE POSITION

The Pharmacist will be responsible for the overall set up and functioning of the Central Pharmacy/Medical Warehouse management and the pharmacy supply chain processes in accordance with national and MdM standards and guidelines. S/he will closely monitor medical orders to ensure an efficient and appropriate consumption pattern under budget constraints, good dispensing and safe medication practices. The Pharmacist is expected to conduct field visits to project site and assist as per the need.

HIERARCHY

The Pharmacist will perform her/his tasks and duties under the supervision of the Medical Coordinator.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Stock management including warehouse management, inventories and replenishment of first aid kits
  • Monitoring consumption of medical items
  • International and local medical orders including coordination with the logistics team, clearing agents, UN agencies etc
  • Mentoring of warehouse officer
  • Monitoring and reporting

Required Number: One

Employment Term: 1 year with possibility of extension,

Date of commencement: Immediately

Reports to: Medical Coordinator

Education

  • Essential: Qualification as a Pharmacist (Bachelor of Pharmacy and registered License)

Experience

  • At least 3-year post-qualification experience, ideally in hospital/health facility pharmacy management
  • Prior experience working with international non-government organizations (INGO) is an asset

Language

  • English

Skills

  • Ability to work well as a part of a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience in supervising, training and managing others
  • Ability to organize and priorities workload and use initiative
  • Willingness to frequent travel to the field and to work in remote areas
  • Essential computer literacy (word and internet) and strong skills in Excel
