Purpose:

The responsibility of the quality assurance inspector involves chemical analysis in the laboratory. They are testing the sugar and nicotine content of tobacco samples and also determining the quality of stem and lamina products in the BCL operation process. 

Main Areas of Responsibility:

1.   Chemical analysis

• Solution preparation, standardization, labeling, and controlling of their shelf life.
• Sample preparation (grinding, tagging) for nicotine and sugar analysis and report their results timely.
• Cleaning of glassware after chemical analysis, drying, and placing it into the proper areas.
• Monitoring chemical storage and follow-up amount of stocks monthly.

2.   Shaker and stem test

• Lamina and stem samples preparation using quality equipment (scale, microwave).
• Proper operations of the Cardwell Test shaker and stem tester to determine lamina and stem contents, and report their result timely.

3.   Moisture tests 

• Hov moisture analysis for coss-checking of halogen analyzer and for the purpose of chemical analysis.
• Bi-monthly HOV moisture analysis for the aim of collaborative study and utilize the feedback appropriately.

4.   Sample dispatching

• Dispatching of collected composite samples (CAS1, CAS3, and CPA) from Hawassa and Robi to the intended JTI units.

5.   Lab equipment handling

• Proper handling of laboratory equipment, follow-up functioning, and reporting in case of any maintenance needed for failure.
• Monitoring equipment accessories, operational manuals, guidelines, and work instructions in the proper place.
• Follow-up laboratory equipment calibration and Implement their results during operational activities.

6.   Other

• Perform various tasks and issues as they arise and upon by supervisor’s request.

Job Requirements

Education:

• BSC Degree in applied chemistry, industrial chemistry, and other related fields from recognized university. 

Work experience:

• 2-years of experience in the industrial laboratory.

Knowledge:

• Language: fluent speaking and writing English
• Computer Skills - Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Ms word, Ms excel and PowerPoint)
