Job Description
Background
Jhpiego is an international, nonprofit health organization affiliated with Johns Hopkins University. For more than 40 years, Jhpiego has empowered frontline health workers by designing and implementing effective, low-cost, hands-on solutions to strengthen the delivery of health care services for women and their families. By putting evidence-based health innovations into everyday practice, Jhpiego works to break down barriers to high-quality health care for the world’s most vulnerable populations. In Ethiopia, Jhpiego provides technical assistance to the Ministry of Health in the areas of maternal, child and newborn health, HIV/AIDS, nutrition, as well as in health workforce education, management and regulation.
One of the programs being implemented is the Health Workforce Improvement Program (HWIP) which is a five-year USAID funded program (2020 – 2025) implemented by Jhpiego led consortium for improving the health workforce in Ethiopia. The overall goal of the program is to address the critical HRH challenges by optimizing production, performance, & management of health workers across all levels of the health system in the country. To address these disparities, HWIP is implementing key gender transformative strategies and activities at Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), Professional Associations (PAs), and health facilities.
