ActionAid Ethiopia (AAE) is a Gender justice , poverty eradication and Good Governance organization. In Ethiopia, ActionAid works to challenge gender inequalities and the structural causes of poverty through empowering communities to create critical mass of communities especially Women and Girls living in poverty and exclusion. ActionAid Ethiopia believes that gender justice and poverty eradication are achieved through purposeful individual and collective action to bring socio-economic changes at household level to local, national and international levels. Empowerment of people living in poverty plus women’s leadership with the support of their allies is crucial to drive through the changes that will ensure equality and eradication of poverty.
Position : Project Manager-strategic Partnership Agreement (SPA II) Project

Job summary:
AAE’s one program priority is governance and young people including ensuring access to gender responsive public services and is working with young people, their organizations and networks thorough local partners and local rights programs. It has piloted young women for climate justice and global platform(GP) for young people projects where it facilitated the emergence of young women climate champions and GP young people network. AAE with the objective of building just, green and sustainable development, has scaled up its initiatives and commenced Strategic Partnership Agreement (SPA II) program with ActionAid Denmark and secured grant. This program centers challenging unequal power which exacerbates the vulnerabilities of marginalized communities. The position holder thus will be responsible to for the successful implementation of the project and will manage and oversee the overall project implementation through out all the project cycle with the strategic and thematic focus of Democratic values and human Rights; Fragile context and displacement and Climate and green solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide results-based strategic guidance, leadership and management of the SPA II program
- Lead and coordinate the program cycle management
- Ensure SPAII program alignment with and increment on the Governance, young people and civic participation program priority of AAE.
- Mainstream the program objectives with other priority areas of AAE i.e Women rights, Resilient livelihoods and climate justice and humanitarian & Emergencies
- Strive towards strengthening AAE’s position as strong and strategic partner on young peoples’, mainly young women’s leadership on climate justice, governance and resilience building and promoting feminist green economies
- Identify needs and priorities of young people in the program areas and support young peoples’, with deliberate focus on young women’s, collectives and movements strengthening/establishment
- Guide the program through Human Rights Based Approach and intersectional feminist analysis in a way to ensure social and young peoples leadership
- Ensure strong partnership with program partners and other like-minded actors, government, community-based organizations, local CSOs, UN agencies and social justice movements
- Contribute to the program excellence through robust program management and evidence-based advocacy especially on Gender Responsive Public Services(GRPS)
- Ensure young peoples, women and marginalized communities’ direct engagement, leadership and ownership of the program through-out the cycle
- Ensure quality program delivery through systemic and wel-designed MEAL aligned to the program results framework
- Pre-position AAE in key strategic platforms and clusters
- Play crucial role in timely and systematic documentation and communication of the program results with relevant teams to contribute towards organizational vision and mission delivery.
- Responsible for the program donor compliance, coordination and monitoring of the results framework delivery
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- BA or MA Degree in developmental studies, human rights, gender, and related social studies,
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience for BA and 6 years for MA.
- Practical experience and professional engagement with young people, mainly young women, and marginalized communities and their agencies socio-political, economic, legal and digital development
- Solid understanding and broader experience on areas of human rights, good governance, gender equality, climate justice, feminist green economy and advocacy
- Practical experience on livelihoods and alternative solutions of young people, women, marginalized people including women smallholder farmers
- Profound understanding of the nexus between development and humanitarian wings
- Proven experience of work in fragile and crises contexts including protection of the vulnerable in such scenarios
- Proven partnership establishment, coordination and sustaining skills including humanitarian actors at local and national levels and beyond
- Practical experience in empowering marginalized and excluded communities, particularly the young people ; digital advocacy, campaign and engagement, and leadership of young people mainly through the digital collaboration and innovations and practically proven people management and team building skill.
