OXFAM in Ethiopia

Oxfam in Ethiopia is an international NGO working on humanitarian and long-term development programs. Oxfam’s vision is to see disadvantaged women, men and youth, empowered and enjoyed their rights to secure sustainable livelihood and democratic governance. To achieve this goal the organization implements humanitarian response and development programs using innovative approaches.

Oxfam believe in the power of young people. We strive to place young people at the centre of tackling systems of oppression that perpetuate inequality. Oxfam strive to work with and empower the groups and individuals that are systematically left out of the important political, economic, and social processes that influence their lives, and social justice more broadly. Currently, Oxfam under its Urban Development and Youth Empowerment Programme is working with Inspired Ethiopia Youth Association (IEYA) to provide a community based youth support (empowerment) programme that will be implemented to improve the social, psychological and economic status of disadvantaged youth and their families to be economically strong and become self-reliant and under “Tesfa Ethiopia” or Hope Ethiopia, a social media-based initiative with an objective of creating a hopeful, visionary, healthy, successful, and united youth in Ethiopia.

 The aim of the announcement is to equip the volunteers/IEYA with the necessary knowledge on how to promote their cause and connect to their supporters through leveraging social platforms to engage the youth and other community members. Therefore, interested, and experienced consultants are invited to apply for the bidding process.

Job Description/Topics to be covered

We expect this training to cover, but not limited to, the following topics to train the Youth Volunteers working for and with IEYA for the 4 days training. 

• Connecting with the audience in a meaningful way
• Topic selection, management, development
• Social media communication strategy
• Social media - YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Ticktock, etc - content management, promotion, and delivery
• Public response tracking and management
• How to strategize manpower need of IEYA in managing social media and content
• How to build branding and measuring audience engagement
• How to develop content and make it timely and catchy to the audience
• How to monitor across channels for relevance
• Advocacy by encouraging reviews, feedbacks and sharing
• Wider reach and maintaining campaign continuity,
• Live content Troubleshooting
• How to well-break social media algorism
• Making good use of data, boosting mechanism, website development, robot management
• Tactics to attract audience and communicate with people; maintain engagement and participation

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Management or other relevant fields
• 5 and above years of experience as a Social Media Specialist or similar role
• The ideal candidate should have experience managing official brand accounts on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram, developing creative digital content in a fast-paced environment,
• Preferred experience in content creation, photography and videography
• Excellent knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, Google+ and other social media best practices
• Understanding of SEO and web traffic metrics
• Experience with doing audience and buyer persona research
• Good understanding of social media KPIs
• Excellent multitasking skills
• Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
• Team player & good time-management skills
• Great interpersonal and communication skills

Applicants are required to submit their financial and technical proposal in person at Oxfam Great Britain Office, located in Bole Sub-city, Woreda 03, Kebele 27 area, around Ramada Hotel, near to UNHCR Head Office, house Number 2084

This invitation to tender has been issued for the sole purpose of obtaining offers for the provision of the quality services requested against the TOR.
