About Veritas

Veritas is a multi-sector and Ethiopia-focused management consultancy firm. Veritas Consulting advises private, development, and private sector facing public institutions. We are a sector–agnostic consultancy, though the current thrust of our engagements is in renewable energies and agriculture.

About the position

The scope of this assignment that Veritas is proposing for consists of updating the Environment and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) report that was prepared during 2016 for the Ethiopia – Sudan Interconnection Transmission Line. The ESIA will be updated in line with the World Bank’s Environmental and Social Framework and the key issues identified by the Bank.

Duties and Responsibilities:

ADrafting Environmental and Social Instruments

  • Drafting of the Stakeholder Engagement plan (SEP)
  • Preparation of a Resettlement Framework (RF) and Action Plan (RAP)
  • Preparation of an Indigenous People’s Development Framework (IPDF) and Plans (IPDP)
  • Preparation of a Gender Action Plan (GAP)

Updated Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA)

  • Updated environmental and social baseline data
  • Updated Impact Assessment and Analysis
  • Updated Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP)
  • Update the Monitoring Plan from ESMP and other Related Plans 

Term of Engagement: Six month

Working Hours: Regular

 Required Number: Two

Job Requirements

  • Master's Degree in related studies
  • 5+ years of professional experience in relevant areas
  • Experience in works related to the preparation of RAP and VIPDP as per World Bank’s or any other Multilateral Development Bank’s guidelines, and knowledge of the FPIC process.
  • Extensive knowledge and practical work experience in the context of Ethiopia
  • Knowledge and practical work experience of working with indigenous peoples in the context of Ethiopia.
  • Clear, effective, and efficient communicator
  • Excellent English writing and speaking skills
  • Excellent oral communication and presentation skills
  • Requires strong PowerPoint, Excel, and MS-Word capacities
  • Able to work both in a team and independently
  • Professional and constructive disposition, with a delivery-oriented approach
