We are pleased to announce the following vacancy for Specialist: Transmission Network Assurance in Network Operations & Maintenance Technology within the Technology Function in Ethiopia. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below.

Detailed Description

Reporting to Manager: Transmission Network Assurance, The principal shall be responsible for all end to end operations and maintenance of transmission Network infrastructure. Additional responsibilities of the principal shall but will not be limited to fiber maintenance, fault management, performance management, change management, network design review, disaster recovery and business continuity of transport network.

Job Responsibilities 

• Planning and Design review across multiple transmission technologies including Microwave, Fiber/DWDM/GPON/OTN, VSAT.
• Facilitate network testing and acceptance – in coordination with planning and infrastructure teams.
• Coordinate Network Improvement initiatives, in liaison with OEMs and Partners.
• Ensure monitoring of all network elements is achieved.
• Perform proper preventive maintenance of all transport network elements and document results for all allocated sites and according to the maintenance regimes.
• Accountable for Spares deployed on sites
• Periodic feedback on all transmission related performance reports.
• Maintain an updated network information database
• Ensure compliance to regulator guidelines and facilitate necessary reporting on the same.
• Ensure OH&S adherence during supervised or own work execution.
• Monitor and evaluate design quality of all self-built fiber.
• Maintain fiber network Infrastructure (OSP/ISP).

Job Requirements

Qualifications 

• Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or Higher National Diploma in Electronics/Telecommunications  
• 5 years experience with 3 years specialized role in a busy telecommunications environment –Involved in Transmission and IP Network operations, design, planning, installations /commissioning, and projects especially in the transmission field.
• Working knowledge and experience in various transmission network technologies including Microwave, Fiber/DWDM/OTN/GPON and VSAT
• Knowledge in Pathloss design tool
• Working knowledge of IP Networks principles
• Knowledge of software defined networking principles.
• Working knowledge of pole line design and fiber construction, both aerial and underground.
• Knowledge of network scripting / programming languages e.g. Python
• Computer literate – Able to create management reports and use project management tools
