Lutheran World Federation (LWF/WS – Ethiopia) is a registered foreign charity which has been operating in Ethiopia since 1973 implementing various development and humanitarian projects in different parts of Ethiopia. LWF is currently looking and invites qualified candidates to apply for the Site Engineer.
Duties and Key Responsibilities
He/she shall:
- Prepare/revise design drawings, Bill of Quantities and specifications for small scale irrigation projects.
- Supervise construction of Small Scale Irrigation Projects on daily basis and ensure the construction is as per the specifications and agreement
- Ensure the contractor timely mobilization of required manpower, materials, equipment’s and machineries.
- Verify and approve quality of construction materials
- Review construction plans and design and prepare modification when deemed necessary
- Takes measurements, document progress pictures and recording data and observations
- Prepare and submit payments for contractor
- Ensure at all times that the site book, drawings and BoQ is kept at site
- Troubleshoot problems that may come up during construction of irrigation system and during usage.
- Do paperwork, analyzing data, and prepare reports
- Communicates and meets with target users, stakeholders, and government departments and presents to designs, ideas, and recommendations
- Closely work with Woreda and Zone Agricultural offices and other stakeholders
- Represent LWF to brief visitors of the project on the overall project objectives and project outcomes.
- Makes Planning projects, administering and managing budgets
- Ensure timely completion of milestones and enquire approval for next work for overall timely completion of the project
- Ensure all safety protocol of workers is fulfilled by the contractor.
- Ensure proper documentation
- Deal with challenges and come up with the way out.
- Ready for additional assignments as ordered by supervisor
Job Requirements
Required qualification and Work Experience:
- MSc. or BSc. Degree in Hydraulic and Water Resource Engineering, Water Resource and Irrigation Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction management and related field of study from recognized University
- Minimum of 3 year relevant experience for MSc. Degree and 5 years for BSc. Degree
Key competencies:
- Knowledgeable on contract administration.
- Experience of supervising irrigation project
- Excellent written and oral English Language skills required
- Previous related experience in NGO setup including enough knowledge of CAD applications is an advantage
- Relevant on job trainings are advantageous.
