Job Description
The United Nations World Food Programme is the world's largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. The mission of WFP is to help the world achieve Zero Hunger in our lifetimes. Every day, WFP works worldwide to ensure that no child goes to bed hungry and that the poorest and most vulnerable, particularly women and children, can access the nutritious food they need.
ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
The World Food Programme has supported the people and governments of Africa for over half a century on issues ranging from ending poverty and hunger to sustaining peace and promoting stability; and for nearly two decades, the organization has engaged the African Union (AU), a political institution established to articulate and advocate continental political, economic and social development ambitions and priorities.
In recognition of the AU’s growing importance and influence in global and continental affairs, WFP has been enhancing its engagement, advocacy, and technical support to promote the implementation of AU decisions, policies, strategies, and programmes. WFP’s support to the AU is coordinated by the WFP Africa Global Office based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
