Job Description
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Mercy Corps has been operating in Ethiopia since 2004, working in rural, peri-urban and urban areas in five regional states - Somali, Oromia, Afar, Southern Nations Nationalities and Peoples, Amhara - and the capital city of Addis Ababa. We engage in both development and humanitarian work, and seek to integrate approaches, programs and geographies as much as possible. Our partners include government, academic institutions, development and private sector actors, civil societies and communities.
Mercy Corps Ethiopia is demonstrating a sustained commitment to agency Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) and Gender, Diversity and Inclusion efforts. Accordingly, the country office is selected as one of the two Mercy Corps pilot countries to implement the recently launched a new three-year agency wide Gender Equality, Diversity and Social inclusion (GEDSI) Strategy . The strategy is unique in that it represents a joint effort between the GESI (Gender Equality and Social Inclusion) and GDI (Gender, Diversity, and Inclusion) teams. The strategy reflects the important link between internal GDI promotion and Mercy Corps’ goal of achieving programmatic impact at the community level. Therefore, Mercy Corps Ethiopia is looking to hire a national volunteer to support the country GEDSI effort as part of the pilot and regular GEDSI implementation.
