Internal and External Vacancy

Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is looking for qualified candidates to fill the Partnership Officer position. 

Purpose of the Job:

  • Managing relations with coordination platforms and enhancing EHRC partnership with stakeholders.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage external relationships with partner, stakeholders and established platforms such as EHRC Arts Advisory group and CSO-EHRC coordination platform;
  • Participate in building and nurturing partnerships with other organizations, key stakeholders and counterparts, including GOE offices and authorities as well as CSOs and private sectors;
  • Coordinate EHRC’s annual Human Rights Film Festival and other events as appropriate;
  • Coordinate event logistics, publicity, including public relations, advertising and communication materials as per the request from departments;
  • Assess an event’s overall success and submit findings;
  • Ensure that networks of partners are enabled toward a collective outcome and develop engagement plans;
  • Represent EHRC externally, as required;
  • Contribute to stakeholder mappings, analysis and briefs;
  • Support transparent selection of partner, based on sector prioritization and strategy and effectively manage day-to-day relationships with selected partners;
  • Review letters of inquiry and partner proposals presented to the Partnership Department and provide clear, concise and insightful written analyses and recommendations for the director;
  • Assist in the development of MoUs and Partnership agreements with partners;
  • Work with other team members to provide detailed information to partners and staffs on EHRCs partnership principles and strategies;
  • Collaborate within the functions of the department to optimize project and program costs;
  • Participate in relevant working groups/committees, staff meetings.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by executives.

LOCATION: Head Office /Addis Ababa

REPORT TO: Director, Partnership

DURATION: One Year Contract

SALARY RANGE: Gross monthly salary of ETB 19,157.00- ETB 22,817.00 plus ETB 6,000.00 Housing allowance and ETB 1,500.00 Transport allowance, depending on candidate’s qualification, experience and earning history

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • MA or BA Degree in Law or Social Science
  • 4 years of relevant experience for BA and 2 years of relevant;
  • Computer Literate;
  • Knowledge of Amharic is required;
  • High proficiency in written and spoken English and Amharic;
  • Experience in networking with stakeholders.

Scope of Work The consultant will be responsible for preparing, delivering, and reporting on a four-day Law Enforcement Agencies–Media-CSOs Dialogue Forum. The forum will cover key thematic areas, including: • Media freedom, constitutional guarantees, and rule of law principles with the focus on the international and regional frameworks (including UDHR, ICCPR, ACHPR, and UN frameworks on journalist safety) to set the context. • National legal frameworks governing media and freedom of expression, and their implications for law enforcement, media operation and CSOs advocacy practice. • Digital rights, cyber-security, and the protection of media and CSOs actors in online spaces. • Co-creation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) or a Code of Conduct to guide Law Enforcement Agencies–Media-CSOs engagement, during special events, particularly in the context of the upcoming election. The consultant will facilitate discussions, group work, and role-play exercises to encourage dialogue, identify friction points, and propose practical solutions. Following the forum, the consultant is expected to prepare a concise report summarizing key outcomes, recommendations, and agreed next steps, as well as a draft SOP/Code of Conduct reflecting the contributions of participants.

Scope of Work The selected trainer will be responsible for designing and delivering a two-day capacity-building training for lawyers engaged in media and freedom of expression work in Ethiopia. While the training primarily targets members of the lawyers for media association (MELA), it will also include other legal professionals working on media-related issues who are expected to support or join the network in the future.
