The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970. After the council of ministers’ decree #376/2016, AHRI is put under FMoH as a biomedical, clinical trial and epidemiology, and hub for kill transfer and knowledge transfer for postgraduate trainees from Ethiopia and beyond. The malaria and neglected tropical disease (MNTD) directorate in AHRI run several projects in collaboration with local and international organizations.

To execute the activities of the Vivax Serology Partnership (VISPA) grant obtained from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the malaria-neglected tropical diseases research directorate is looking for experienced, self-driven and motivated researchers to join our team for field activities and laboratory work of the MNTD directorate.

Job Location: Addis Ababa

Key Duties and responsibilities

• Plan and conduct data collection, data entry and data cleaning activities
• Participate on report write up and manuscript development
• Perform real-time data capture while assigned for data collection.
• Analyze spatial data through mapping software and designing digital maps with geographic data and various other data sets.
• Support the PIs of the projects on protocol development and manuscript writing
• Prompt response to the requests from project coordinator, manager, local data collectors and the study participants

Job Requirements

Required Qualification & Experiences:

• BSc Degree in GIS or related field from a recognized university
• No work experience required but ability to demonstrate skill in GIS navigation tools and software that can be used for mapping

Other Competencies

• Strong computer literacy (MS office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and internet use)
• Excellent interpersonal communication skill
• Capacity to work under pressure and manage personal stress levels
• Ability to work with others/team work, including international collaborators
• Willingness to take up out of office tasks
