Job Description
Lead gender analysis studies as well as ensure baseline & EIA studies designed, studied and reported towards increased resilience of women and girls;
Review and validate gender related targets and indicators of the project and consult with the RESILIENCE WE team in WVE & WVC on how best to continuously strategies with the aim to achieve targets;
Serve as gender technical lead of the project delivery towards quality annual plan, implementation & reporting;
Work closely with NEWA team on context based human rights (HR) on the effectiveness of safeguarding arrangements;
Review safeguarding planning tool for programme design and implementation. Committed to responding to emergencies efficiently and effectively in order to help affected (if risk happens) women & girls meet their basic needs, alleviate suffering and maintain their dignity.
Study reports produced geared to increased resilience of women and girls Appropriate baseline, EIA and gender analysis conducted Relevant targets identified towards establishing MAEL framework
Lead project efforts to introduce context based key Gender Transformative Approaches for both organizational and programmatic transformation
Ensuring gender integration that women & girls benefit from inclusive and gender transformative market opportunities. Context based inclusive gender transformative approach introduced to the project cycle
Undertake capacity gap analysis for staff, partners, stakeholders and community levels;
Initiate & lead formative research even after gender analysis along project implementation phases to identify key gender issues such as;, discriminatory social and gender norms and to make recommendations on how to address gender barriers and challenges
Conducts standard quality training and produces related guidelines to ensure women & girls’ empowerment and integration of gender priorities into all technical sectors of the government project;
Ensure women and girls empowerment and gender equality improved;
Serve as the main contact point for the partnership communications to ensure that system is created/strengthened for ensuring accountability for gender equality RESILIENT WE project sector by working with project staff, WV system, concerned level government offices, NEWA & donor
Influence to change towards women and girls centered development at all levels
Ensure RESILIENT WE scaling principles such as co-learning, cost effectiveness, inclusiveness, climate smart, sustainability and scalability mainstreamed in to day to day project rolling out;
Jointly monitors project progress with other thematic area advisors and ensure if women and girls are center of the operations;
Drafts or contributes to written materials for a wide variety of audiences within RESILIENT WE projects, and the broader development community such as position papers and training materials.
Ensure project officers and NEWA about the complementarity interventions & communications ,IP remain supported and interventions complementarity maintained towards project outcome
The women and girls inclusion into targeting and MAEL framework inclusion and subsequent tracking confirmed
Ensure the documentation of successful practices, publications, development of presentations and technical documents and opportunities for reflection within the organization as well as outside the organization
Read the RESILIENT WE Proposal & its Logic Model (LM), extract impacts, outcomes, outputs & activities and understand expected from Senior Gender Advisor Produce draft major areas of the subsector & discuss with HO level RESILIENT WE and other concerned staff
Develop tools and guidelines to help ensure quality gender transformative programming throughout the project, Lead liaising with other INGOs, LNGOs, and Government representatives and take active role in forums, task forces, core group meetings and consortia related to all cross cutting issues for learning, experience sharing and joint action implementation. Works closely with the MEAL & KM Advisor to assist partners in the design and implementation of baseline data collection, studies and surveys for planning, monitoring and evaluation of projects
Job Requirements
Training in advocacy, partnership building, communications, publication & developing story
Minimum of 7 years working experience in promoting gender equality, human rights and social inclusion with various partners and stakeholders
Minimum of 7 years working experience in leading initiatives on reducing environmental shocks, improving livelihoods, and innovatively empowering vulnerable rural women and girls
Minimum: Master’s degree in gender/feminist studies and/or related field in the social sciences University degree at least M.Sc in gender and related field of study
At least 5 years of training in gender and development, and in-depth knowledge in gender equality, human rights, social inclusion within the context of environment and climate change
Must have a clear understanding of major donors’ feminist and gender equality perspectives, requirements and standards
Significant experience of working with government officials, multiple partners, community groups and communities
Experience of working in an international and cross-cultural environment and developing partnerships with women’s rights organizations and women-led CBOs
Verifiable proven research experience in gender and rural development (using quantitative and qualitative research methods and approaches)
Familiarity with standard gender analysis framework is an asset
Must have proven analytical/problem-solving abilities
Ability to work with minimum supervision and with a team
Strategic, creative and innovative thinking
Excellent communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills
Ability/experience in managing a network of project partners; experience in coalition building and ability to rally coalitions and networks to advocate towards the advancement of project objectives and outcomes
Proven experience in facilitating effective project documentation and dissemination of results to a wide range of audiences
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff
Excellent skills in producing quality & timely reports
Appropriate skills and experience in the gender-based capacity building and training of staff and partners
Wide experience in handling/facilitating productive meetings with internal and external stakeholders
Has a good command of oral and written English language
