Who we are

SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia is an International Non-governmental organization and a member of SOS Children’s Villages International Federation. The organization started its humanitarian work with the opening of its first Village in Mekelle, Northern part of Ethiopia in 1974. The organization has been providing life-saving provisions such as food, water and health services for a very significant number of children devastated by severe drought and the subsequent famine.

Today, we have grown significantly to meet the persistent challenges that confront Ethiopian children who have lost parental care and are at risk of losing their parental care. Working in close collaboration with international donors, local government and community based organizations across seven program locations; SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia aspires that every child grows up with love, respect and security.

We are looking for HR Coordinator who will be responsible to oversees the recruitment and selection processes, the provision of induction and orientation to new hires, coordinates performance management, co-workers capacity development, implementation of total reward management process of the organization.

Your role....

As a Project HR Coordinator, you will be in charge of the following:

Recruitment and On-boarding

  • Assisting in the recruitment and selection of staff including preparation of position profiling, devising sourcing strategy and participating in selection panels
  • Participating in activities related with building the capacity of concerned staff members on competency based interviewing and strategic talent acquisition
  • Giving professional advice to supervisors and managers in the development and designing of job descriptions
  • Guiding and giving advice to location HR staff and hiring managers/supervisors in any recruitment, selection and on boarding process and ensure that all recruitment, selection and on boarding policies, procedures and techniques and country laws are adhered
  • Overseeing the organization of new co-workers on boarding and induction programs and provide orientation on HR overview

Organizational Development

  • Contributing research, analysis and ideas to the development of HROD strategy in order to ensure that OD initiatives are appropriately integrated and aligned with strategic and Organization goals
  • Conducting organizational capacity assessment (OCAT) and come up with possible intervention for better and enhanced performance
  • Designing and delivering OD and change management strategies, processes and include initiatives which foster a high performance culture
  • Identifying opportunities for performance improvement through undertaking internal diagnosis, process/system reviews in order to understand barriers and possible solutions
  • Designing and facilitating in-house events, workshops as required.

Learning & Development

  • Coordinating the Organization’s talent management initiatives such as succession planning, employee engagement and retentions programs and coordinating the contributions of key stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of the programs
  • Assessing staff development needs in coordination with internal and external stockholders and come up with possible interventions
  • Take the lead in the designing and delivery of appropriate and relevant Personal Development Plans for staff
  • Developing coaching, mentoring and secondment schemes to support staff development and the achievement of Personal Development Plans

Performance Management

  • Overseeing the management of probationary period performance of new staffs and providing assistance to supervisors and managers
  • Following up the delivery of semi-annual and annual work plan and accomplishment of performance appraisal
  • Overseeing and giving professional advice to the staff and location HR staff on issues related to performance management
  • Building the capacity of concerned staff members on performance management  

Human Resource Planning and Generic

  • Participate in the human resource planning of projects and assisting stakeholders in the preparation of HR section budget breakdown
  • Contributing to the understanding, development, implementation and adherence to human resource policies and procedures across the organization
  • Providing professional and appropriate advice to managers and staff in relation to human resource management issues
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of the National Association workforce management plan and position management
  • Ensuring that effective and confidential record-keeping and data management systems are implemented
  • Overseeing and coordinating SOS CVE’s benefit administration
  • Participating and take lead on local and international compensations surveys

The must haves: 

  • BA degree in Human Resources Management, Management and related field of study.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experiences out of which 2 years in supervisory position
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skill
  • Knowledge and experience in the areas of HR specially learning and development and organizational development, recruitment and selection
  • Excellent language skills in spoken and written English
  • Commanding computer skill
  • Knowledge about labor regulations of the government of Ethiopia
  • Ability to demonstrate good judgment and maintain confidentiality and discretion
  • Ability to multitask and give attention to details
  • Excellent organizational skill
  • Must be able to discover and see problems that may arise in the corporation or between personnel
  • Must have the ability to listen and understand employee concerns and formulate a decision to resolve the issues
