Detailed Description

Reporting to the Senior Specialist: Cyber Security IT & GDPR the role holder will implement and manage the Technology Data Security and Protections in Safaricom Ethiopia.

The role involves working with the cyber and technology teams in delivering cyber security and GDPR programs while focusing on delivering security technologies/ capabilities that would help protect against internal and external threats to ensure controls are effective and standardized.

The role involves providing security assurance, guidance and support to the cyber and technology teams as well as and high profile projects according to company defined policies and requirements, best practice and local/international standards (ISO27001, GDPR, POPIA, Data Governance etc.) relevant to the technology security area

Job Responsibilities

This role will involve working with stakeholders in Ethiopia, Safaricom, Vodacom Group and Vodafone Group to drive out Cyber Security requirements and baseline requirements.

The role requires the following:

• Support the design and implementation of a common and consistent vendor risk management (VRM) program to effectively manage vendor risk in accordance with internal policy and Regulatory requirements.
• Develop the strategy, goals, and objectives for the information security awareness, education and training program.
• Handle enquiries and issues relating to data security practices, GDPR system compliance. Promote a culture of data protection compliance across all units of the organization.
• Ensure GDPR tooling are in place and managed accordingly to support privacy requirements such as Anonymization tool.
• Provide insights into cyber security solutions to meet local requirements from a functionality, capability and cost perspective.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, post-degree qualification
• Have one or more of these industry Cybersecurity Certifications: CISM, CISA, CISSP, ISO2001 Lead Implementer
• Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in information security/cyber security or Data Governance
• Proven experience in working across security frameworks and security technologies.
• Experience and proficiency with the following (inter alia):
• Security policy implementation and compliance management
• Third-Party Risk Management
• User Awareness and people-related security controls
• Data protection, privacy, and regulatory compliance
• Proven experience with GDPR, Data Protection laws, Ethiopian Critical Mass Requirement Standard, or any other guidelines regarding data protection.
• Proven experience in supervising, leading, or coordinating teams and managing stakeholders.
• Good report writing and communication skills
