Job Title: Senior Geologist

Position Description

Kenticha Mining PLC (KMplc) is an exploration and mining company headquartered in Ethiopia with operations in the south of the country. The company is looking for dynamic, self-motivated and experienced geology and related practitioners to join a growing team of exploration professionals. Candidates must be Ethiopian citizens or hold a valid Ethiopian work permit. Reporting to the Exploration Manager, the Senior Geologist will implement and run field-based exploration programs across the company’s tenement areas. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned exploration professional with a strong technical background.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Implementing and running diverse, field-based exploration programs to accepted industry standards in line with KMplc’s Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Daily monitoring of geological staff and field activities.
  • Planning and layout of geochemical and geophysical surveys, drillhole programs, etc., and direct participation therein.
  • Geological mapping, from reconnaissance to deposit-scale.
  • Accurate interpretation and transcription of complex exploration data.
  • Logging of drillhole chips and core, compiling drillhole/trench sections.
  • Geotechnical logging of drill core.
  • Implementing company QAQC protocols.
  • Detailed report writing as and when required.
  • Helping to ensure regulatory compliance with respect to tenement areas falling under their authority.

Location: Field-based (Kenticha), 4-weeks on / 2 weeks off, 6-day workweek

Job Requirements

As a minimum, the prospective candidate must have/be:

  • A B.Sc. degree in Earth Sciences from a reputable tertiary institution. An M.Sc. degree would be preferred.
  • At least six years of diverse, field-based mineral exploration experience.
  • A good understanding of QAQC protocols and the implementation thereof.
  • A good understanding of code compliancy and reporting codes.
  • Exploration project management skills.
  • A demonstrated ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent English language skills.
  • Excellent report writing skills.
  • Meticulous and detail-oriented, but with the ability to see the big picture.
  • Observant, with the ability to logically interpret, understand, and accurately transcribe geological data.
  • Good soft skills, computer skills.
  • A valid drivers license.
