Job Description

Kenticha Mining PLC (KMplc) is an exploration and mining company headquartered in Ethiopia with operations in the south of the country. The company is looking for dynamic, self-motivated and experienced geology and related practitioners to join a growing team of exploration professionals. Candidates must be Ethiopian citizens or hold a valid Ethiopian work permit. A challenging and rewarding environment awaits suitably qualified individuals keen to make their mark in the mineral exploration field. Key areas of responsibility:

  • Conducting exploration work in remote areas as instructed, and under supervision if need be. Work activities will cover a range of activities. 
  • Assisting with the sampling of drainage material, soils, rock outcrops, drillhole chips and core, etc.
  • Monitoring field equipment, recording data.
  • Processing of samples obtained in the field, ensuring sample integrity, sample packaging and dispatch.
  • Keeping accurate records of field data.
  • Assisting the Database Geologist as required.
  • Any other task as directed. 

Reporting to: Geologist, the Junior Geologist / Geotechnician will be involved in field-based exploration programs generally. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on team player with previous field-based exploration experience.

Location: Field-based (Kenticha), 4-weeks on / 2 weeks off, 6-day workweek Position

Job Requirements

As a minimum, the prospective candidate must have/be:

  • A tertiary diploma in Earth Sciences. A B.Sc. degree in Earth Sciences from a reputable tertiary institution would be preferred. 
  • Previous field-based mineral exploration experience would be deemed advantageous.
  • An understanding of basic exploration procedures.
  • The ability to work under minimal supervision on a variety of tasks simultaneously. 
  • Good English language speaking and writing skills.
  • The ability to understand and interpret basic geological data.   
  • Good soft skills, computer literate.
