Background

Rehabilitation and Development Organization (RaDO) is looking for competent and qualified applicants for the following positions. RaDO is an NGO currently working on the area of Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities, Reproductive Health and HIV/AIDS, Gender Based Violence (GBV), etc. Currently, RaDO is operational in the Somalia , Sudanese and Eritrean refugee camps located in Ethiopia.

Job Summary

Coordinating and managing Explosive Ordnance risk education in Explosive Ordnance impacted communities for the purpose of raising their awareness and promoting behavioural change towards Explosive Ordnance and to reduce the risk of injury from EO.

Major Roles and responsibilities:

  • Ensure the technical quality of the EORE projects implemented, in coordination with the support services and programme units, in line with RaDO’s strategy, donors, International Mine Action Standards (IMAS) and good practices of the EORE sector;
  • Contribute to the overall execution of EORE grants and contracts in close collaboration with the Programme section and with Donors and Operational Partners;
  • Develop EORE materials and content for awareness-raising,;
  • Lead the production and amendment of EORE materials and content for awareness-raising, as well as EORE training and capacity building contents as required to contribute to face-to-face and remote modalities;
  • Coordinate with UNOPS and EBMA and other relevant sectors such as health, education and protection in the implementation of EORE; 
  • Establish working relations and regular communications with security stakeholders and national authorities (police, military, civil defence,);
  • Liaise with national authorities and relevant humanitarian partners on matters related to EORE interventions;
  • Develop plans and guide new innovative approaches to deliver EORE including the use of digital applications and integration of EORE in protection, conflict preparedness initiatives and wider humanitarian response;
  • Introduce performance indicators, success criteria, targets and milestones to EORE interventions;
  • Document best EORE practices and lessons learned: Ensure learning and monitoring processes are in place and that resulting best practice is widely shared;
  • Identify new opportunities and needs for the development of EORE activities and develop new initiatives to address these in cooperation with partners;
  • Provide technical guidance to EORE personnel for the development and implementation of programme work plans and monitoring and evaluation mechanisms;
  • Implement the quality assurance / quality control of the project, in compliance with relevant, IMAS, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines, and accordingly ensure change and improvement in performance and quality;
  • Provide technical inputs and assistance to the project team and the management for the development of EORE SOPs;
  • Prepare project implementation plan including training, materials development, monitoring, evaluation and quality assurance activities;
  • Ensure verification of field activity reports in coordination with the program team and the management team; 
  • With the support from the program team, develop and deliver Explosive Ordnance Awareness (EOA) in different formats to national authorities, humanitarian agencies and implementing partners;
  • Prepare periodic and regular donor reports;
  • Any other duties as requested and tasked by the supervisor;

Place of Work: Addis Ababa and Frequent field work in Afar

Duration: Four month

Job Requirements

Education

  • Minimum of BA degree in relevant social science

Experience

  • Seven years for BA and five years for MA in areas of social mobilization community education and at least two years in managerial position.

Language

  • Good command of English is a must. Knowledge of Afar language is an additional value.
