ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Ethiopia Private Sector Development Programme (PSDE), aims to create conditions for improving private sector productivity and competitiveness. The higher level objective is to improve the economic policy framework and the employment and income situation in the Ethiopian private sector, especially for owners and employees of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), in terms of sustainable economic development.

 Main objective of the PSDE Output 1 (Capacity building of public institutions for improved business enabling environment), is to strengthen the Public Institutions to improve the policy and institutional framework condition in favor of the private sector for a conductive business environment.

JOB SUMMARY

First Consult is looking for a Project Assistant to support the PSDE/ Output 1 Project Management Unit (Team Leader, Long Term Experts) and Short Term Experts temporarily joining the Project, in implementation of project activities, procurement processes as well as logistical arrangements.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Specific duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Organize travel and logistics for PMU and Short Terms Consultants.
  • Organize and schedule appointments.
  • Plan meetings and take detailed minutes.
  • Update and maintain project files and folders
  • Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Maintain supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; and verifying receipt of supplies.
  • Act as the point of contact for Vendors, Consultants, and other key stakeholders.
  • Periodically review and recommend updates to administrative systems to ensure efficiency.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • BA Degree in Management, Accounting or related field of study;
  • Minimum of 4 years of related work experience, possibly within an international environment. Familiarity with EC / UN / GIZ / NGOs Organizations and project management procedures is considered as an asset.
  • Full command of MS Package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and ability to edit texts according to pre-set formats
  • Strong command of English spoken & written, and Amharic languages
  • Interpersonal communication skill; ability to work and handle multiple tasks; Ability to work independently; Self-initiative and commitment
  • Strong command of English and Amharic languages
