The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Delegation in Ethiopia is looking to hire an experienced, highly motivated and qualified person to fill the position of Premises Maintenance Officer (12 months fixed term contract) based in Addis Ababa.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES

• Diagnose malfunctioning of electrical wiring systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
• Apply and ensure safety precautions are observed during operation of electrical systems, power tools and advise supervisors on whether continued operation of the system could be hazardous to the building or users.
• Assemble switchgears, install, test, and maintain electrical wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures. 
• Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
• Assess requirements for electrical installation, generating sets, domestic apparatus installation, plumbing and construction works. 
• Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohm meters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
• Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes. 
• Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes. 
• Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment including meggers, ammeters, voltmeters, and earth testers. 
• Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors, pumps.
• Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. 
• Plans the workday under consideration of necessary tools & material . 
• Keeps track of used materials

Property management

• In coordination with Maintenance Technicians, establishes list inventory of ESAP materials, hand tools and repair related items, ensures that tolls & materials are stored safely

Security

• Contributes to the proper installation and functionality of security equipment at all premises.
• Under the supervision of the Premises maintenance supervisor, assists in ensuring that safety standards are in compliance with ICRC guidelines;

OFFICE ACTIVITIES

Reporting

• Use proper forms and ensures daily, weekly and monthly reports have been reported to the PMS.

Administration – Finance

• Knows, applies and complies with all the administrative and finance procedures.
• Always keeps files up to date 

Job Requirements

• BSc degree in Electrical engineering or Level IV advanced diploma.
• Good Commands of written & spoken English
• Basic Computer skill
• Valid 3rd grade driving License, able to drive in town.
• Able to use office equipment (Computer, copier, & printer etc.)
• 2 years and 4 years or above similar experience.
• Very good Knowledge and skill on building electrical installation, Protection and earthing systems, maintenance and repair of electrical system and equipment.
