Role holder leads company engagement with Regional Presidents and senior government officials at regional levels, zonal heads of regulatory agencies, concerned NGO’s and advocacy groups while securing endorsements of company initiatives across different stakeholder groups.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a reputation management strategy for the company in the region alignment with the Corporate Affairs agenda
  • Conduct environmental scanning of threats to company’s image/reputation and social license to operate and design regional stakeholder engagement plan.
  • Proactively evaluates threats and engages with local communities in the region to determine needs, develops strategies and implements initiatives to address identified needs
  • Initiates and leads partnerships with stakeholders - government, industry and civil society groups on community social initiatives
  • Scan and monitor the policy and regulatory landscape for opportunities and threats to business sustainability
  • Maps key stakeholders and strategically engages them with clear/measurable engagement objectives, i.e., influence regulators and the political decision-making process on alcohol regulations/excise roadmap within the Region; build and maintain dialogue with community leaders, NGOs and media to gain insights/supports and obtain feedbacks about Regional operations
  • Leverages relevant media and channels to project brand acceptability and grow equity in the region.
  • Designs and implements a consumer response to mitigate product quality complaints and achieve resolution of product complaints

Job Requirements

Requirements

  • Requires in-depth understanding and familiarity with the Ethiopian government framework at regional government levels to drive business agenda
  • Excellent Government and community contacts and knowledge with ability to handle a wide variety of situations (including crisis situations in extremely volatile locations)
  • Comprehensive understanding of the business to engage with authority on a wide range of topics with regulators, government and industry platforms.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize a large range of tasks debriefing and securing alignment with Head of Public, External and Government Affairs in a timely manner.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of First degree in the social sciences, arts or PSIR.
  • Additional qualification on relevant subjects such as Public Relations, Mass Communications, and International Relations, will be an advantage.
  • Minimum of 8+ years’ experience in consulting/business advisory, consumer goods industry.  

Language

  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Ability to speak an indigenous language in the assignment area is an advantage.
