Background

Under the overall supervision of the Chief Migration Health Officer and under the direct supervision of the Emergency health coordinator, the successful candidate will work closely with the MHPSS team to support the Program Unit in matters relating to monitoring and evaluation of MHPSS projects in Ethiopia . In particular, he/she will:

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

• Assist with coordination and daily program monitoring , using procurement tools / HR tools.
• Facilitate and coordinate logistics of all trainings conducted by the MHPSS unit.
• Assist with revision and informal translation of IEC materials related to the MHPSS unit.
• Conducting rapid assessments to identify key and urgent MHPSS needs.
• Act as focal point for entering and analyzing weekly and monthly data, give feedback to field team with technical advice and contribute to regular reporting on project achievements, challenges encountered, pertinent developments and strategic needs for IOM MHPSS programs in collaboration with the Emergency Health Coordinator and migration MHPSS officer.
• Participate in relevant MHPSS coordination meetings and maintain coordination and cooperation with partners including WHO, UNICEF, UNFPA, NGOs and other partners in the field.
• Supervising the team in designing and implementation community level sensitization activities on MHPSS issues through psychosocial and recreational activities adapted to the needs, age and abilities of affected population.
• Coordinate and facilitate the implementation of capacity building activities of key stakeholders involved in the response on MHPSS related topics and ensure it is in line with Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) and IOM MHPSS Guidelines.
• Check that MHPSS team members adhere to IOM rules and regulations.
• Support proposal writing when needed by adapting general templates to local context.
• Attend MHPSS technical working group to represent the unit when necessary.
• Conduct punctual site visits to monitor MHPSS projects are progressing as reported and as per the agreed narrative, indicators and work plan.
• Compile and share weekly/monthly report to the MHPSS coordinator, as well as success stories to feed into IOMs internal situation report.
• Keep track and provide reports on any challenges and delays by MHPSS teams in the field.
• Facilitate photo and video documentation of active projects for improved reporting and visibility
• Contribute to update the partners mapping and share any changes with MHPSS staff, while keeping a record on the referrals.
• Accompany the MHPSS coordinator, donor and/or other interested visitors to project sites, providing inputs on progress and overall context.
• Undertake any further duties as may be assigned by the MHPSS coordinator.

Job Requirements

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree in Protection, Psychology, Development, or related Science fields with 4 years of relevant experience is required.

Experience

• Experience in the field of humanitarian protection work, specifically in service delivery of MHPSS services. Knowledge of PFA, child protection, CMR and SGBV with a good understanding of USAID funded programs and other UN Partners.
• Experience in programmatic, administrative, and financial planning.
• Experience in monitoring and evaluation.
• Technical skills in qualitative and quantitative evaluation and managing heavy data. 
• Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively and persuasively present information in a variety of settings and formats.
• Familiar with activity and grant reporting methods and information management systems.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, with proven experience in Word, Excel and Power point.

Languages

• Thorough knowledge of spoken and written English
• Working knowledge of multiple local languages, such as Amharic, Somali, Afaan Oromo and other local languages is an advantage.
