The Project
The Sustainable Industrial Clusters (S.I.C.) project seeks to build capacity of domestic input providers. Suitable companies are assessed and technically assisted to support export linkages with FDIs in Industrial Parks as well as with international buyers outside of Ethiopia. Since business linkages between foreign and domestic firms present a substantial business prospect and impact on the local economy, the development of backward linkages with enterprises outside of IPs is an essential part of Ethiopia’s Textile Apparel Sector industrial development, added value creation and supply chain enforcement.
The Project aims at realizing a sustainable domestic and international collaborative structure for the textile value-chain in Ethiopia whether by promoting Ethiopian textile products in export markets or to seek joint venture or co-investment opportunities with international partners. Business linkages will fall under the following categories:
- Tier 1: Fabric supply: fabric supply, knitwear, woven fabric, etc;
- Tier 2: Accessories (hard and soft), value-adding services (washing, printing, embroideries, dyeing, etc.), subcontracting.
- Tier 3: Packaging, machines and equipment, technical production services, quality inspection services, maintenance and production supplies, product development and design services, additives, and production material supply
We are looking for qualified and motivated production expert in weaving preparation (winding and sizing) for skill development, quality improvement and process optimization in weaving preparation of textile factories in Ethiopia. The expert will collaborate very closely with the sequa project team and chosen private sector companies.
Your Tasks / Responsibilities
- Coach, mentor and develop the skills of factory’s line managers to improve existing production processes and quality of fabrics in local textile factories and sharing technical knowledge/experience with factory team members and assist with training
- Providing sizing process recipes with proper process instructions and diagrams
- Conduct gap assessment and provide proper opinion and plan of action for specific cases/requests related to winding/sizing process and its machines in local textile mills
- Suggest/propose the ways of improving existing procedures of winding/sizing department in terms of cost and time reduction
- Deliver & drive consistency by promoting best practices and standards to local teams with the purpose of driving standardization and consistency as per international standards
- Develop, define and update detailed technical specifications and engineering standards related to winding/sizing related machines or equipment
- Prepare and submit a report for each company defining the existing situation of local textile factories as well as giving recommendations for further activities to be carried out to secure a long term feasible and sustainable development of the local textile factories
Assignment Period: Approximately 15 days, depending on personal qualification and needs of the companies, implemented within 6 month (01.06.22- 01.12.22)

Job Requirements
Your Qualification / Skills
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in textile or chemical engineering or mechanical engineering and other related fields
- Extensive knowledge in controlling/operating/adjustment of the winding/sizing machines and winding/sizing process
- Have excellent communication skill in English.
Your Working Experience
- Dedicated professional with 15+ years of production experience in weaving preparation the field of winding, sizing and preferably expert in Jupiter sizing machines
- Experience in controlling/operating/adjustment of the winding/sizing machines and winding/sizing process
- Have good experience in conducting capacity building training
