BACKGROUND: KERCHANSHE TRADING

We are looking for a competent and professional IT officer to join our team.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Under the supervision of the Corporate IT Manager, he/she will organise, coordinate & direct all IT and communication related activities in head office and field sites. Drive the use of technology in the organization, provide effective IT systems, help develop and implement IT including security standards and policies, provide technology support and solutions to meet the needs of the organization. The IT Officer will manage the overall technology infrastructure for the Head Office including planning, implementation and management of the software applications and hardware infrastructureKEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Information technology (IT) responsibility:

  • Provide technical support during IT equipment purchases
  •  Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and update operating systems and user applications and also repair cabled, wireless and other network infrastructure
  •  Organize maintenance and supervision of IT equipment in both the country office and in project offices
  • Maintain and upgrade all IT equipment
  • Involved in systems administration including: general computer support; upgrades; software installations; license management; server set up and management; network and printer support; deployment of equipment; management of inventories; end user support.
  • Prepare simple guidelines, checklists & logbooks to ensure that teammates are able to follow an appropriate maintenance schedule for computers, printers and other communication equipment
  • Provide user training on common business applications and use of the Kerchanshe ICT systems, induct new recruits into how to use and retrieve files from server
  •  Advise and support colleagues in best practices and correct approaches in the appropriate use of the file share
  • Proactively schedule software upgrades and patching
  • Configure and deploy new and refurbished workstations, laptops and peripheral equipment.
  •  Setup and support audio/visual equipment for presentations and trainings on and off site
  • Removal/disposal of non-functional equipment Software
  • Maintain appropriate filing system for every IT activities undertaken at country office level
  • Ensure that all IT Technical Recovery (backup and restore) procedures are documented
  • Ensure that servers are running at all times and that the latest security updates are loaded
  • Track license and support contracts to include notification of renewal timeframe to management
  • Ensure all network-related and security policies are implemented and followed as outlined in IT policy documents
  •  Prepare an overall inventory of all IT equipment, including a detailed background history of each item to enable the organization to decide which items should be disposed of or upgraded
  • Ensure proper management of the active directory and address issues for solution as and when required
  • Manage the daily back-up process, working with Kerchanshe’s support contractors to address and resolve issues on a timely basis
  •  Administer Kerchanshe Ethiopia’s office e-mail system
  •  Monitor network to ensure network functionality and availability to all system users
  •    Support existing/new server/s and administer access rights for all users in the office
  • Manage domain-based server administration tasks adding new computers or users to the domain and sharing resources
  • Maintain local and server based anti-virus software
  •  Liaise with Ethiopian Telecom (ISP) and other regulatory departments to facilitate any procedures concerning ICT
  • Ensure computer is set up prior to new hire start date and any related moves
  • Handle the relocation of computer equipment as a result of office or personnel changes
  • Provide procurement assistance including, but not limited to, researching solutions, engaging with potential vendors, making recommendations for product purchases and evaluating bids
  • Test new equipment and applications and provide thorough feedback
  • Work with vendors to schedule repairs and maintenance
  • Maintain documentation of processes, procedures, and troubleshooting guides
  • Keep ICT equipment, storage area and work area clean and organized
  • Perform any other duties as and when required

Education, qualifications & other knowledge

  • BSc degree or higher in Information Technology, Information System, Computer Science or related areas
  • Diploma in Information Technology, Information System, Certificate of training in A+, Network +, CCNA, or other relevant certificates
  • Professional knowledge of network technologies and Windows clients
  • Cross functional expertise
  • Knowledge of Windows/ Linux servers, software, Microsoft Exchange and Active Directory, VMware, Hyper V, networks and all related infrastructure, printers, telephony, etc
  • Exposure to SDN(Software Defined Networking), Wireless, WAN/Firewall Technologies,
  • Fluency in English both written and spoken

Experience

  • 3 to 4 years’ experience within a similar sector
  • Experience in handling servers and related access management control
  • Experience with Google Apps, Ms Outlooks, Share point, ERP systems
  • Experience in Active Directory
  • Experience in File Share, Organizational Unit and Group Policy
  • Proven experience in hardware deployment

Skills & abilities

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work independently to troubleshoot, perform root cause analysis, identify and isolate technical issues
  • Able to influence and develop working cultures (in use of IT equipment)
  • Commitment to client orientation and working in a structured manne 
  • Ability to plan and schedule various related activities, detail oriented, dedicated to task and delivery, multitasked
