SUN Chips, produced by Senselet Food Processing PLC, has a leading market position in Ethiopia. We produce potato chips, carefully selected out of the best Ethiopian potatoes and processed in our brand-new factory outside Addis Ababa with the latest technology from Holland.

SUN Chips is now looking for an hands-on, energetics and eager-to-learn Sr. Agronomists  with a yes we can mentality who wants to be part of a growing company, who takes ownership of her/his responsibilities and who likes to go the extra mile to achieve your and company targets. Targets and deliverables

•  Monitor performance of potato producers through farm visits and inspections (production schedule, diseases, harvest, etc). By generating weekly visit and inspection reports.
• Prepare and update cultivation plan, agronomist datasheet and potato database
• Update commercial farms list obtained from embassies, MoA investment office and other sources
• Weekly follow up of commercial farm trials to achieve targeted yield and to scale up land size
• Advise potato producers on agronomical practices, diseases and other
• Quality control and assurance of potatoes before transport to factory and upon arrival at factory
•  Training other agronomists and farmers on potato production
• Contribute to execution of smallholder program
• Participating in potato related workshops and meetings
• All other tasks assigned by supervisor

Job Requirements

Requirements

• Education: relevant degree in agronomy, horticulture or agriculture
• Experience: minimum 3 years of relevant practical work experience for a private organization in an agronomist or production supervisor role in horticulture.
• Technical skills: good in Amharic and English (speaking and writing), analytically strong (problem solving), strong communications skills, good technical skills (ploughing, planting, disease recognition, fertilizers, chemicals, irrigation, harvesting, storage, logistics) in horticulture (e.g. potato, tomato, vegetables).
• Social skills: serious and hard-working, eager to learn, good feedback mentality, result oriented, taking responsibility and accountability, good in building and maintaining relations with farmers and others.
• Entrepreneurial skills: flexible and autonomous working, enthusiastic and willing to travel.
