Job Summary
The Animal Husbandry Officer is responsible for the overall animal husbandry activities of the farm.
Duties & Responsibilities
Encode data for daily cattle feed consumption, milk production, breeding/ calving details & cattle health care reports in the Dairy farm management system module.
Follow up and update with the system all livestock statistics in different category such as new cow purchases, new births, cattle sale / cull, mortality, cattle group classification like milking cows, non - milking cows, no. of pregnant / non pregnant cows, heifers, growers / calves etc. and reconcile with total no. of livestock physically have.
Record raw milk production of each milking cow in the PM system and cross check it with GRN every morning & evening.
Report the amount of milk transferred for further processing; and make sure that butter and cheese products are produced according to company’s standards.
Control medical items at the time of purchase and check the stock balance by keeping records in bin card.
Supervise all kinds of animal husbandry activities in a daily basis and make sure that all are done according to company standards.
Reconcile all the feeding management changes to the requirement of each category of cattle in different stages of growth / production & pregnancy as recommended by the Farm Veterinary officer from time to time
Monitor the daily consumption for cattle as per the cattle feeding management program.
Fill and request purchase requisitions to replenish all kinds of cattle feed raw materials, finished goods, medication materials and others as required.
Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports about milk production, feeding cost, medication cost & any other relevant cost incurred for the farm cattle to the head office Accounts Department after the verification of farm Manager.
Maintain and update the category wise - Livestock inventory details on monthly basis.
Assist the Farm Veterinary officer in the implementation & recording of all Herd programs like pregnancy diagnosis, control breeding programs & Mass health care programs like vaccination etc. as per the schedule
Perform any other important / urgent works as assigned by the Farm manager based on time to time requirement for smooth farm operation of the farm.
Job Requirements
Academic Qualification
BSc in Animal Science
Work Experience
Five years of relevant experience in the development of feed resources and improved animal nutrition, in Animal husbandry.
Excellent computer skill with data encoding experience
Extent and relevance of working experience in main livestock feeding systems
Extent of knowledge of and experience in the application of improved animal nutrition
Quality of both oral and written communication skills on technical issues
